Stop by this quirky little shop for fresh everything, and grab a growler of North Carolina craft beer--they have many to choose from. Go for the homemade crab dip and grab a fresh, warm crusty whole wheat baguette chocked full of whole grains and sunflower seeds (delicious!). And definitely go for the pint jar of homemade spicy cocktail sauce to go with that pound of fresh shrimp for your romantic dinner for two tonight at your hotel/condo/house overlooking the ocean! This is the best little fresh market--a little something for everyone, and a great selection of wines and cheeses, too.

We stopped here on a whim a little before closing. They have great produce, salt water taffy, Ash County cheese!!! And a lot of pickled items - some pickled just for them. We got the chipotle pineapple salsa, pickled okra, taffy, cheese and some beer to go. Tip- we may have missed the sign but if you get a pint of beer to go it comes in an awesome reusable jar. - But there is a 3 dollar deposit for the jar. They have a small wine selection as well. Would definitely return

The Veggie Wagon is a great little place to shop while on vacation at Carolina, Kure, & Ft. Fisher Beaches. They carry fresh produce, local honey, jam & jellies, pickled goodies, salsa, sauces and spices. They also have fresh bread, cheese and local/organic produce. We stopped by several times during our annual family vacation to pick up produce for dinner. We also enjoyed the coffee bar and couldn't seen to get out of the place without picking up some ice cream! The Veggie Wagon is located near the lake in Carolina Beach, and I would highly recommend stopping by to support this local merchant.
