We live in Catonsville and visit here frequently. The acoustics are very good and concerts are staged during the summer months on Saturdays and Sundays. The music is eclectic and the cost is donation only.

If you haven't been yet, boy are you missing a great time. This beautiful woodland Amphitheatre is located on Bloomsbury Ave next to the High School. Plenty of parking (sports field lots and street - all free) and if you have accessibility issues, you can drive right up to the top of the "bowl" and drop folks off or park in the handicap area. Otherwise, it's just a short walk from the parking areas. Bring a picnic dinner or snacks, folding chairs (there are some picnic tables) and some insect repellent. The bands have been very good and there isn't a bad seat in the "bowl". We usually sit at the top of the "bowl" to feel the great breezes of summer. Remember it's a Baltimore Co property, so alcohol is not allowed. This a FREE concert.

Catonsville's been named Maryland's "music town". Great music stores here and wonderful participation. There's Friday night concerts in the middle of town during the summer and there is Lurman's. The high school was built on a hill, the former Lurman Family Farm, overlooking the southern end of Baltimore and next to the school, in a wooded bowl, is the Lurman Woodland Theatre with a wide variety of musical acts during the summer. Check the schedule out on-line at www.lurman.com

Never leaves us disappointed. Great entertainment(for free) amid a treed bowl area.(Mentally you fell as if you are miles away from busy suburbia). There is also a snack stand for hot dogs, burgers and drinks.

Located in a small natural amphitheatre in the woods of nearby Catonsville, Maryland sits the Lurman Woodland Theatre. There`s nothing quite like taking a couple of folding chairs, perhaps a bit of a picnic and listening to music ranging from folk to bluegrass to old time string band to hard rock. (I stick with the middle two...)

Lurman Woodland Theatre is a hidden entertainment gem for the Baltimore area. Located in a patch of forest just behind Catonsville High School, it showcases a variety of musical talent on weekend evenings throughout the summer months. Even better, the concerts are free. Bring insect repellent and, in case of showers, an umbrella.
