Hi WhiO5214,Thank you so much for your review! Your comments mean a great deal to us. We are always expanding our collection and seeking objects that tell the complete story of Fredericksburg and the Rappahannock Region. We also endeavor to have programs and events that tell those individual stories that we can’t fit on our exhibit walls. We invite you to come back and attend one of these programs. You can visit our Calendar of Events on our website. Once again we hope that you will come back to the Fredericksburg Area Museum & Cultural Center.

Wonderful museum and spent lots of time reading and learning about the town and the battles of Fredericksburg. Love it.

After our guided walking tour, our guide suggested we go to the museum and I am glad he did. The museum was well done and had many floor to explore and once you're finished you can go over to the cultural center and check out their exhibits. Well worth the visit!

Museum is in two buildings, and you can start at either one. One is more colonial and revolutionary war. The other is more civil war and contemporary. Prices are $7 and lower depending what discounts you get. Students are $2. Good overview with Masonic displays from Washington's time, lots of civil war memorabilia, colonial furniture--something for everyone. My wife and I recently became volunteers because we were fans of this museum. You can get a city pass at the visitor center that includes this museum in the price. No better place to celebrate George Washington than Fredericksburg. His mother's house, sister's house Kenmore, and his boyhood home site are within walking distance or a short drive.

Recent renovations have really been well thought out. A fun place to visit and learn without much effort. Of course the old money is displayed in what was once the bank's vault.

We bought a Timeless Ticket at the visitors center and the museum was on the to do list. Well let me just say we spent 3 hours touring the Museum which is made up of 2 buildings. The Museum was filled with area history of all types from what the women wore back in the day, thru area battles, to present day history. Worth

This is a somewhat small museum. It was interesting to view the history of Fredericksburg. It is worth a stop during a walking tour of the town.

We've lived here 6 years now & have been meaning to get to this museum, which was renovated around the time we moved here. We went a few weeks ago & were amazed at the depth & quality of the collection. There are exhibits & artifacts back to the founding of Virginia & the Native American culture before that. I'm a fan of 18th century items, & they had some really impressive items from that era. Great information on this area, its geography, and economic evolution. Period costumes for kids to try on, & all housed in 2 very nice buildings across the street from each other. There's certainly plenty of Civil War exhibits, but its so much more than that. I would highly recommend this to any serious history buff. At one point we said "wow, this is like what you'd expect at the Smithsonian". Nice gift shop too featuring some unique items.

We were interested in civil war so this museum was good for us. The furl owe in USA was on so it made up for not going to battlefield tours

If you're in to history, this museum is packed with it. The displays are well done. Wasn't expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised.

We visited this as part of a first Friday art hop. It is worth visiting a very nice collection of history with contemporary art on the third floor. The wine and cheese was for members only and not for all museum guests.

The Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center now also is home to the George Washington Masonic museum, which is fabulous! You will learn a lot about Washington and his life as a Mason. The museum is located in the Old Town Hall and Market House, originally built in 1816. Fredericksburg's rich past is presented in six permanent exhibit galleries covering a time span from pre-historic to 20th-century times. The exhibits are interesting and not over-whelming. It was most enjoyable and educational.

The bottom of the floor has nothing to see. The second floor has an exhibit of Mason artifacts from local residents. There are some pieces of furniture. A sparse exhibit overall.

Enjoyed walking through this museum to see the variety of artifacts and items on exhibit. If you are into history this is a must do stop while you visit Fredericksburg, VA!

We received a great welcome from the young lady at the front door. The display on Fredericksburg's history, as well as the trauma the town went through in the Civil War is excellent. The museum is in a former bank and the old vault is used to great effect with a display on the money of the area.
