Everyone loves the warmth of the state park in the summer. The beauty you see in the winter will be enough to warm your heart and soul on that chilly day you take the sight in. A must see even in the winter.

I had never been to a beach in the dead of winter and I wasn't sure what to expect. I was staying nearby and thought it would be interesting to check out a beach in February. This is one of the best travel decisions I have ever made. The landscape was fascinating. The sand was frozen and left foot impressions just as snow would. There was an thin layer of ice on the sand giving the area an eerie look. Something that resembles icebergs were at the shore line. This would be a wonderful teachable moment for children as well. The area was stunning in its own frozen way.

I wouldn't want to camp there. The lots are all cement and very, very close together, can't even put your trailer canopy up without hitting the next trailer & there's no place to park your vehicle. Don't think there are fire pits for campfires (and what fun is camping without a campfire) The pier walk is always fun, as is the people watching. The beach area is nice but always crowded and does directly connect to the city beach. Just not my kind of camping fun.

Beautiful, fun, nice sand, great get away, beautiful dunes near by, blue fresh water, fun restaurants near by, boat watching, people watching, the magical fountain... A trip well worth it!

You can't get a better beach or sand. Pack your beach gear and a light lunch. Spend the day building a sand castle or splashing in the water. Kids will love it and sleep like a baby at night.

This state park has a really amazing beach, almost pure white. Got crowded as the day wore on. Very nice pier and lighthouse.

The sand is very clean. It can be very busy so get there early. You will want to get a State Park pass so that you can park right at the beach parking. There are lots of places to get ice cream and food on the drive in.

When a friend saw my vacation pictures he asked if we had gone to the caribbean. Beautiful sand, lots of room to walk, can't say enough about it. If you are ever in that part of the world, GO!!!

We love Grand Haven State Park - it is an excellent park. It has a very large, long and sandy beach with central bathrooms, changing building and snack shop. Great for swimming, sunning, and picnicking. The campground is fairly compact and sandy but has numerous sites for RV's, pop-ups, even tents. There are usually a large number of RV's and trailers with a small number of tenters. There is a new very large shower & bathroom building in the center of the campground. Plus another bathroom building on the outer edge of the campground near the boardwalk. The boardwalk extends along the Grand River from downtown Grand Haven out to the pier & lighthouses (approximately 1+ miles long) and runs alongside the State Park. There are two lighthouses on the Grand Haven pier. One lighthouse at the end and the other half way out. The lighthouses are still functional and their exteriors were redone last year. The pier offers great fishing and walking. Countless pictures and paintings have been made of sunsets off the beach and pier.

If you can get a beach site can camp right next to the sand. Nice view. Next to pier and walk to downtown. Bathrooms clean.

When I was a child we would visit family here. I remember being able to bike the whole town not only in one day but by ourselves. No worries here, every one is friendly, and they sleep with their doors unlocked. I would love to visit again sometime.

Grand Haven State Park is the perfect place to see Lake Michigan! We went later in the afternoon and watched the sunset. It was incredibly beautiful and peaceful. If you need to do some thinking or destress this place is for you!I dont think I've ever felt more relaxed listening to the waves, letting them wash over your feet and feeling the warm sand in between your toes.It really was HEAVEN!One of the highlights were these really impressive sand castles that someone had built!Definitely "sand castle artists" if you ask me!Grand Haven,I WILL be back!!!

I enjoyed this beach a lot...Loved it. There isn't a whole lot to share, well because its the Lake Michigan Shoreline. And that's Awesome. What more is there else say?The parking was good, beach was clean and packed with happy people. I liked that the land was flat....as in at some other parks along the shoreline, you walk down the sand to the beach....which makes it H3LL dragging a cooler and other beach essentials back up a sand hill.Loved the downtown area and culture, as I knew I would, as I do any other Beach town in MI. Do visit...already have next years trips planned!

I visited this park when I had a business trip to Grand Rapids. It was worth the drive! The beach was clean and sand was soft. It was a colder day for august so we didn't get in the water but it looked really clean. You can camp here but it looks cramped, and you're on cement. They had lots of volley ball nets set up, and there is a lighthouse you can walk out to. It was really nice! My only complaint is that we had a rental car with out of state plates, so even though we're from Michigan we had to pay out of state price.
