Can get a little crowded, but a good way to get around. Keep an eye out for "serious" bikers if you have small children on bikes or are walking. They can tend to be pretty intense.

Traverse City has an amazing choices of trails to choose from. Whether you cross country ski, bike, walk or whatever.......they are gorgeous. You even get scenery! Suggestion, go on the website and see what type you want, what options there are and how far you would like to go! The trail system is very user friendly and is well marked! Love it! We travel 3 hours becuase it is worth it! Spend a romantic weekend...... go into the cozy town and into the shops or the many restaurants in the area or go to the wineries!

We use the TART trails frequently, especially as a way to bike from our home in Acme to Traverse City. They are a great way to get around, avoid some of the auto traffic, and get a bit of exercise. The annual "Tour de Tart", a fund-raiser for the trails, is a great ride from Traverse City to Suttons Bay, with a picnic at the end and free transportation for you and your bike back to TC via school bus. Lots of fun!

You can ride your bike from Acme to Suttons Bay on a paved, well cared for trail. Get a map and see lots of places to park your car and pick up the trail in many areas.

I would highly recommend hitting the trails in the TC area. The TART is great for running, walking, riding, etc. The locals are all very friendly and everyone does their part in keeping the trails clean and safe. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to run the trails on a regular basis. They are beautiful anytime of the year.

The trail is paved and easy to walk or bike ride. It is a pleasure to walk with no cars. The trail is well maintained.

There are so many wonderful things about Traverse City but certainly close to the top is the TART trail. This long winding flat bike trail goes along the beautiful bay and more. It's part of what makes TC TC.

The trails in TC are super convenient. We took our bikes on the BATA (public trans) Bike N Ride Bus up to Suttons Bay. We biked back on the Leelanau Trail, stopping at Tandem Ciders, Black Star Farms and Shady Lane Cellars on our way back. Great Ride!!

Visited Traverse City in September and camped in the State Park. Park is located next to Tart trail which will take you numerous places around the city and beyond. Trail extends from north of town, to the business district to locations on the peninsula. Makes getting around the area considerably easier and there are no parking problems on a bike. Beautiful beaches and quaint little town.

The 17 miles paved Leelanau trail between Traverse City and Suttons bay is a paved multi-use trail. It is away from major roads, except for a few crossings, and mostly protected by trees. Mostly flat with very gentle slopes.

From the old train depot, that is now a brewery, by the new depot, to a serene stream & past the bay, and thru downtown---you can see most of the city from this trail. Lots a bikers, joggers & walkers year round use this trail. Perfect!

The best view of Traverse from the west side is from the 7th floor of Munson Hospital. Go in the main entrance and use elevator A - proceed to the 7th floor and look out. Fantastic views from the waiting room and at the end of the hall where the rooms are.
