This lake is supremely beautiful with the islands and mountains surrounding it. I suggest sunset at the city dock for picture perfect postcard images. There will be all new docks by spring 2015 including lake cruising and snack bar! Enjoy

The lake is so large that it is always near you. On the street, in a restaurant, or even coming and going from church or shopping. It is always present and oh so beautiful.

Just live this 32 mile long lake. If you have a boat it is fab for water skiing or jet ski. Did not see rental spots as we had friends. Also great for paddle boarding and there is the old rail road that you can bike around the one side. If you do t have a boat the lady of the lake leaves from the marina off main by the police station. Fun to go to the Canadian side at Magog , Quebec lots of good restaurants and more lively .many great cottages around for rentals too.

This lake is huge. We spent two days hiking and biking along Lake Memphremagog. We have gone on a sailboat to enjoy a day on the lake. Even with cloudy skies and wind, it is a beautiful sight. We stayed at a wonderful campground called Prouty Beach.

My husband and I cruised the lake on the Northern Star from the US side of the lake. The Captain was great and gave so much information and history. I recommend this cruise. It's 1 1/2 hr. and you get lunch.

I have had the wonderful good fortune to visit my good friend at her cabin on Lake Memphremagog for the past several summers where I have been able to swim in the clear waters of the lake. Coming from the South, where lakes are typically muddy, this lake is such a delightful change. Yes, it is cold when you first go in the water, but very quickly you will become acclimated and just enjoy this wonderful place. Fortunately, it is not overrun with speed boats (yet), so canoeing and kayaking are still enjoyable activities.

I was in town for my third time at the Kingdom Swim on Lake Memphremagog. This year was special because we had a small group of us who were able to swim over the Canadian border and return to Prouty Beach. It is a great lake and I am looking forward to returning again soon.

Vermont may be home for two Lake Monsters – “Champ” at Lake Champlain, and the lesser known ” Memphre” at Lake Memphremagog in Newport. The lake is 31 miles long with 73 percent of the lake's surface area in Quebec, where it drains into the Magog River. However, three-quarters of its watershed is in Vermont. The total is 687 square miles with 198 square miles located in Quebec. In Vermont, the lake lies in parts of the towns of Derby and Newport. The lake elevation is 682 feet and its Legend has it that Lake Memphremagog contains an amphibious monster named Memphré, which has received sightings since the 18th century and continues on in the folklore of the area. Maximum recorded depth is 351 feet and ia mecca for scuba divers and perhaps for “Memphre”.Legend has it that Lake Memphremagog contains an amphibious monster named Memphré, which has received sightings since the 18th century and continues on in the folklore of the area. To date, more than 215 sightings have been reported and documented with great care. Each account is signed and recorded; hearsay accounts are refused. There are on the average, eight sightings annually which have been confirmed by about twenty witnesses. In 1961, two fishermen, heading for Newport observed for about forty seconds a black creature, about 20 feet long, swimming partially submerged. According to these men the creature that was about 200 feet from their boat, had a round back and an indescribable head. This scene was accompanied by a strange sound. In July 1996, four persons witnessed it’s presence after observing it for more than a minute. According to them, the creature had several humps, was about 20 feet long and swam about 50 yards between their boat and the shore. This sighting which took place about 7 p.m. is similar to one that took place about 4 p.m. some 10 miles away as observed by three other persons. The description of a three humped creature coincides with that of September 1994 given by four persons in two different boats. The weather was overcast but the lake was calm not a wave, no wind, they observed for at least three minutes from each of their two boats and object 40 to 50 feet long type of wave shaped like three humps and black in color.Monster or not, this is a lovely lake…cold and clear and featuring three lighthouses.

Nous avons beaucoup aime les reflets dorés des couleurs automnales se reflétant dans le miroir qu'était le lac avec une belle journée ensoleillée . Belle flânerie ,instant magique
