Make the effort, get up early and do the walks. We were lucky and saw a platapus in the creek there and a couple of lyrebirds near a kangaroo. Just a quick drive from town.

Easy walks (this coming from an avid nature hiker) with beautiful surroundings. My favorites are the Black Cockatoo trail and the Peppermint Walk trail. We saw a family of wallabies midway through the latter. Be careful of their leftovers (aka feaces). Also be wary of muddy paths which can be really slippery especially going downhill. Love the freshness of the river running through the forrest too!

We walked the tracks here looking for animals and actually found some. Very pretty place with very clean water in the creek. If it was hot we'd of had a dip here.

We visited here a couple of times during our holiday. The creek there is just the spot for a hot day. We all just sat in the water one afternoon and went nowhere. The heat of the day here also caused the forest to give off a very nice bushland smell. During our three visits here we only saw wildlife in the early morning but maybe that was as it was hot.

We went here for some walks on several days early in the mornings. Not only was it nice and cool then but each time we went we got to see some wildlife. The highlight for me was seeing a platypus in the creek there. There are also lots of nice little hideaways in the creek where you can just sit and relax in the water. Loved it

A great area to unwind while surrounded by nature. LOTS of kangaroos at dusk.

To walk along the tracks here amongst all the bush and high tree ferns along the creeks was so peaceful and the air so fresh and clean

Very good trekking and lots of trails to choose from, some nice and easy, others 'Boogoong' Staircase a high level of fitness is required but the views at the top are worth it.

Just a 10 min trip in real time out from Mt Beauty. From the carpark here, which has mown grass under the high trees by the creek ( Called mountain creek ) there are a number of walks from 30 mins to 3 hours +. If time is short, take the walk along the stream that leads off from just across the bridge. This walk follows the brook which is crystal clear with trout & plyatpus in it. The old tree ferns along this path are mostly well above our heads and the air is damp & cool. At one point there is a small swing bridge over this creek from where the trail returns to near the carpark. Expect to see lyrebirds, parrots, kangaroos & wallaby's in the morning and evening and maybe even a deer if your quiet. There is also a nice bbq by the creek here for a casual lunch or dinner and the carparks notice board has good mapping and information on it.
