Got the train from Roma Street in Brisbane, direct to Caboolture for the price of 11 dollars single, Called the Shuffle Bus from the station a Caboolture and it came to collect us within 10 minutes. The driver and all of the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. I had thought we would spend about an hour looking at all these traditional houses, but OMG how wrong I was. The place is absolutely fascinating and huge. I' m 60 years of age from England and I can remember many of the things that were on display and I was shocked how much I remembered and how far we have progressed from my childhood days. Honestly, go and have a look, it will be the best 15 Dollars you will spend. It's al;l run by volunteers and they are really passionate about their tourist attraction. Fantastic DAY out.

This village was once a good place to visit, but little money has been spent to update and keep displays clean and tidy. It hasn't really changed in years.

The Village is quite large by any standard and normally does take a few hours to see everything it has to offer so a decision has been made to help visitors who arrive a little late in the day.Should you pass through the reception after 2 p.m. you are very welcome to ask for a pass to come back on another nominated day so that you may continue your visit of discovery. These passes are non transferable and available from the reception as you leave.Australia Day will see the official opening of the new Tourist Information Centre at the Village something that has been developing over the last two years ,which will add to experience here.Everything that happens at our Village is a reflection of the great attitude and hard work by our many volunteers.

This is a very large site with dozens of buildings full of all type of history from Australia and Cabooltures past. We made our way to most of the exhibits and if you have any interest in history then this is the place for you. They also have a small railway and the train driver was extremely helpful.

Our Motorhome Chapter was allowed the privilege to camp at the Historical Village for three nights. We enjoyed wandering down the old streets and through the old buildings which delved into the history of the area in an easy and interesting way. There were retired Correction Dept officers there who were a font of information about olden times in jails and who explained the various exhibits on display. The old hospital, Maritime Museum, Axeman's Museum, Bakery, Garage, Hotel are all so very interesting, showing us how things used to be.The train ride was fun and everyone there is so friendly. The gardens are lovely all around the buildings. We ate lunch at the cafe there on two days, eating an array of delicious Thai foods. Well worth a visit just for the wonderful food.Definitely a place to take the family and just wander around for a whole day, enjoying everything including the mule and chickens and ducks.

If you want to see how people lived and worked years ago. Then visit this place. You can spend hours walking around the old building and see how tough life was back then.

Worth visit anytime if you enjoy historical attractions. Particularly on Australia Day when the Village comes alive with a street parade etc. A good family day out.

Love seeing all the things from yesteryear and the passion these lovely people have in showing you them. Friendly and educational place to take the kids and also learn something yourself. Great photo opportunities there especially for weddings. Caboolture is a lovely friendly town and has been my home town for 43 years.

A great review and on behalf of the Village and the many (150) volunteers who make it happen all the time I thank you. This review will be read to the volunteers at morning tea and I can assure they relish such comments. We acknowledge there is always room for improvement and the Village is constantly evolving so if you haven't been for a while it would be worth a visit.Current projects being developed include new BIG signage for our entry, many more signs for displays thanks to a new sign cutter and the development of the Bakery as an interactive display for school children.Captain Starlight ,our resident bushranger most days ,also has a new hideout to carry out his threats and shenanigans .We all look forward to seeing you.

Lovely quaint village atmosphere with lovely buildings preserved from the past. Beautiful rainforest right in the centre of the village with a real train to transport you from place to place. Devonshire tea served to perfection in the cafe and plenty more tasty items to choose from. A very please to place to spend some time relishing in the past. Shall return.

This is a great place! We had heard almost nothing about the village and had fairly low expectations. We had planned on spending an hour or two and ended up staying for about five hours. They have a fine collection of old buildings, well restored and/or preserved as well as some great collections of vehicles and artifacts. Some of the collections could benefit from more contemporary museum practices with less emphasis on the number of exemplars and more on chronology, evolution of the technology, background and information. The pity is, no one has heard of this place. The standard Australian and Queensland guidebooks don't even mention it. Nearby standard Tourist Information facilities in Brisbane and Mooloolaba don't even have a leaflet. I talked to a number of the local merchants and restauranteurs in nearby towns and they've never heard of it either. It's maybe 10 or 15 km from the Glass House Mountains so the area gets a fair number of visitors but when we were at the village on a weekend, there were maybe 10 or 15 other people. What a shame!

School visit days are fantastic days ,the sounds of happy children laughing ,squealing with delight ,shock or horror at the various activities they are engaged in.Our visitors are encouraged to join in and soak up the atmosphere. We believe our volunteers really shine on these days because of the great interaction that takes place and our bushrangers consistently outpoll all the others but if you saw the show you would fully understand. Is it their good looks (?) ,witty conversations, the political incorrectness or the loudness of their gunfire.Visit the Village for yourself on a school visit day and make up your own mind.We encourage you to phone the Village before visiting and ask which days school visits are allocated so you can join in but be warned it can be noisy ,in a delightful way.
