From an unassuming exterior to a magical experience within, this is one of the best small museums we have ever visited. The museum gives a valuable and indepth understanding of the islands history. Entry is free but donations are appreciated.

This museum, housed in a lovely old building, displays a wide range of artefacts and information about the history of the island and the people who have lived there over the ages. The contents are very well presented and captioned and cover both famous events and social and family history. The level of demand and interest is well pitched and the exhibits and text can be understood and appreciated by both children and their parents, whether 'Saints' or visitors. The staff are extremely helpful. It has a good little shop - one of the better places to buy souvenirs.

Full of wonderful island memorabilia. It seems like the islanders are proud of their home and want to share. Very interesting.

There was a great deal to see and, like many such places, it needs more than one visit as there are things you missed the first time. For a small island there is a disproportionate amount to learn about it and the museum is a good point to start and then, after you have seen the island, to finish.

The Museum of St Helena is run mainly by volunteers with the curator being the only one who has been trained for the job. The friends of the museum are spread across the globe and many of them visit St Helena and bring their own particular skills to help with new displays or exhibitions. For visitors to St Helena who are interested in its history and culture a visit to the museum is a must. The is no entrance fee but donations are invited.

A small museum packed with unusual and interesting artefacts from the history of the Island. There is also a well stocked gift shop and occasional art shows.

The museum is free to enter, although contributions towards it's running expenses are welcomed. There's a pleasant and well-stocked shop and the exhibits are very wide ranging. We spent a couple of hours there, appreciating more about the history of the island as we explored the exhibits. It's very well set out, and well worth at least one visit.

An interesting museum at the bottom of the Jacob´s ladder. It gives the history of the island up to 2nd WW. But no information about the 2nd WW and the Germans sinking of a Brittish warship in the bay and the islands envolvement in the Falkland War.

We visited twice once at the beginning if the holiday then at the end. A great insight into the history of this fascinating Island. Well laid out, very informative, clean and tidy. Easily accessible in Jamestown at the bottom of jacobs ladder. A must visit. Free!

This museum is an unexpected gem. It is well laid out, covers a wide variety of subjects and has helpful and informative staff. Of particular in interest is the shipwreck section, particularly the Witte Lieuwe and the Papanui. There is also a working model of the St Helena "Railway" - tracks which used to alongside Jacob's Ladder with carts hauled up by donkeys. There are also some medical instruments including some with a label "you really don't want to know what this is for"

St Helena and everything about it is fascinating, well it is to me. The Island is well worth a visit for those who have the time and the inclination and the museum gives a great insight into St Helena's history. The museum staff are always friendly and happy to chat.
