anniston museum of natural history

First of all this is a great museum but if you do plan on going and taking small kids especially those who are adhd or special needs DO NOT go on a sunday! The lady at the front desk is extremely hurtful and rude. I was embarrassed to take friends with special needs children including my own for how this woman treated my child. She yelled at us and my child...telling my child that she wasnt going to let my child into the museum. She has no clue what having a special needs child entails. My child was not out of control and wasnt being disruptive at all. My child did try to run at first, she flapped her arms and jumped in place. I was on it and this woman ignored other people and started yelling at my special needs child!!! Sometimes they get excited and are loud...sometimes they jump up and down in place...sometimes they run. I'm doing the best I can to teach my child what's acceptable and what's not in a public setting...I do not allow my child to run the show, but it's also not as easy as just telling my special needs child to stop and act "normal"! I'm very disappointed at being placed in a stereotype by a staff member. Will try to avoid ever going back on a sunday!

My husband and I enjoyed our visit to the museum. Interesting displays. They were updating some areas. Still lots to see.

The museum was filled with all kinds of taxi-dermied animals and a few mummies. They were fairly interesting, but I didn't see anything special about this museum that I hadn't seen in any other natural history museum. The price was reasonable to get in. Be sure to get there by 4:30 PM because they don't let anyone in after that time even though the museum closes at 5 PM.

With an admission price of only 5 and 6 dollars this beats the movies! Without getting too lengthy, they have a bit of everything. Kids loved it!

Exhibits change often and are amazing and educational for adults and children. Beautiful wooded setting on the North end of Anniston, just off Hwy 21.

An interesting view of wildlife as presented in an earlier time. WE learned much of the older ways in which people saw wildlife when photograph was not readily available and zoos were not pervasive about the land

Great two for one deal here. We visited two museums on the passport ticket. One area was under renovation but we could kinda see the future look.

Kids and adults love our museum with its extensive collection of animals and of course, the mummy! Temporary exhibits are also interesting and they have a very nice gift shop!

We visit at least twice a year. If you are into animals, this is the museum to visit. There is so much to see here. There is also a beautiful botanical garden that we enjoy also. Best attraction in Anniston!

This is a great museum for introducing children to the different types and sizes of animals. They have everything from small animals to large animals (including an elephant); they have dinosaurs and a mummy too. The museum allows you to go at your own pace and the cost of admission is low. It's $6 for Adults; ($5.50 for Senior citizens 60+); Children (age 4-17) $5; and children age 3 and under are free.

The Anniston Museum is a great place to visit with kids for education and spending a day exploring the facility and outside walking the nature trail.

This is a beautiful place. A super affordable fun time for all ages. I is off the main road between Anniston an Jacksonville. A big sign so you can't miss it.And you can get a deal to see both attractions in one place,all you have to do is take a little time to have fun.

I've lived in or near Anniston my entire life, so to me this museum can seem a little outdated, but to someone outside it is worth stopping by if you are in the area. They always have outdoor exhibits if weather permits.

Always wanted to visit and enjoyed every minute. Great displays and exhibits. Look forward to visiting again.

This museum took me by surprise! I've been to some of the major US Natural History Museums (Chicago, NY, LA) and this one really holds up on it's own tucked away in Anniston. The exhibits are more intimate, the best with no barriers of glass or bars, so the experience is unlike others. A lot of great variety and really well done. We actually met the curator who was incredibly kind and incredibly passionate about his work, which really shines through all the exhibits. The lobby may seem a bit dated, but pass those entrance doors and you're in for a real treat!
