I love visiting here because there is always something to see. There's the Jim Bowie history, the Orphan train, the monthly Farmer's market and best of all the annual Lighting of the Village and the arrival of Santa Clause coming up soon in December. Whenever I'm having guest visiting I like to go by and pick up the many brochures to share with them and chat with the volunteers. It's a good place to hear about what's happening in and around the city.

Traveling through this past Thursday, we stopped to see the Village. Very well laid out, lots of information on the 'old' way of life. Don't miss the Orphan Train Museum!!! Well worth the $10.00 admission!!!

The buildings are from the Opelousas area and include a doctors office, school, church, home and outhouse. It is a real step back in time. Well laid out and very informative.

Very nice place to get a snapshot of Opelousas history like the Jim Bowie display, the LA Orphan Train, etc. Pick up brochures on Opelousas and the surrounding areas. Love the annual Christmas tree lighting event and the Spice & Music Festival.

While vacationing, we stopped in Opelousas to see the many exhibits at the Village. There are several building to view, including a visitor center, church, school, Orphan Train Museum and several outbuilding. All these are located in a park setting. Very enjoyable.
