Learned so much about the area in such a short time! The are videos to give more history on the subject, and the artifacts that were donated were awesome....and there is an actual submarineIn there that was found in Lake Ponchartrain after the war! It was time well spent!

This is a great little museum with very interesting displays. I liked it so well that I joined. Of course, part of my motivation is that the Museum has taken on the onerous task of restoring and maintaining the Tchefuncte River Lighthouse.

This is a small local museum that has movies, models, and exhibits that gives you some history of the area & lake. I was familiar with much of what was displayed...but I even learned some things I didn't know. They also have boat building classes you can sign up for or watch to try to preserve some of the old wooden boat building techniques for future generations. It is a small contribution to a worth wild cause.

Do not miss this one. Many items, well organized, and lots of videos. Really informative in a lovely building. Many locals have their weddings here. We spent more time than planned because it was so interesting. Nice restaurants nearby too.

"Maritime Museum" is rather a grandiose title for such a small museum that does not contain a lot of information; it pales in comparison to other maritime museums such as the one in Greenwich. Some of the exhibits seem to be in the process of being set up and a couple of the videos did not work. The film in the auditorium was interesting

I am a lover of boats and all things nautical. I always try to check out any kind of maritime museum when I run across one. this one is ok, but small and not very well put together. I have seen much better maritime museums. I probably wouldn't go back to this one.

We met another couple from new york and enjoyed talking with them and the lady that sold us our tickets was very informative. be sure and see the section with all the replicas of lighthouses in the area. lots of work went into their making. hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
