Great view of South Charleston from the top of the mound. Lots of birds frolic in the trees, and you can catch a festival at different times of the year here. I would like to see it add a bathroom facility however. It is central to the South Charleston shopping district where you can pick up everyday supplies at the two dollar stores, go antiquing in several multiple floor stores, or pick up anything from comic books at one store to band instruments for your kids at the other end. In between you will find Charleston's best variety of foreign foods fro Yen's Sandwiches, Pho Ving Long, Taste of Asia, and Main Tin, or a mix of American, Italian, and Middle Eastern at Grano, or American diner classics at Happy Day's Cafe. South Charleston really does have something for everybody. After dinner, if you've got little ones, drive down D street, hang a left on 2nd, and let the tots run off their food at the newly rebuild 2nd Avenue Playground.

This is a nice old Indian Mound in an urban, but nice setting and permanently open as a public park. The main problem was the complete lack of any information about the Mound and its origins, and there is not much of a view from the top to compensate.

I like the clean park, there's stores and resturants next to it. Korean Military park close by. Library is a few blocks away, where you can see exitbits about the mound. Start at the Mound, warm up, walk to the Library do some shopping on the way, visit and Honor our Vets. Get bite to eat, return to the mound to finsh the day.

The Mound is a lovely spot to take a nice walk around and up the stairs for a nice view. There are restaurants and antique shops in the area, so it would make for a nice stop. Read the history of the Native Americans who were buried there at one time.

because my mother who went to high school in South Charleston never believed there were Indians buried in the mound! She looked it up before our visit and was pretty surprised. It's a lovely little park and worth a peek. Take time to walk up the steps and enjoy the view.There are several antique stores right near the mound so it would make a nice day trip.

Easy parking and access, seating available around base of mound, informational signs re: history of mound. Good restaurants close by

We randomly ran into this and it was a good picture spot. Nice area. My boys who are young, liked the stairs that lead to the top. Nothing on the top though. Just trashcans. Thought there would be more up there after that hike but the "City of South Charleston" sign makes for some good pictures that is in front of it.

The Indian Mound is quite a sight. The city has dressed it up nicely with park benches and even a stairways on which you can climb up to the top. Kids would love it.

Some nice local shops and resaturants in the area but not much to see. Some events are scheduled at different time of the year so check the calender.

We visited this Adena mound and were impressed by the many plaques that explain the history and culture of these ancient Americans. The mound is located in a very nice area of South Charleston. Go have lunch or dinner and visit this wonderful monument.Cheers,Rob and Teri

The mound is interesting and some of the shops around it are okay. There just isn't much else there.

We stumbled upon this site, but found it a really neat little mound, nicely kept by the city. Steps lead to the top, where we wished there were a bench to sit and enjoy the view.

what industry did to the largest display of adena mounds in the country when it arrived here in the valley. this one sad and lonely mound remains.
