We heard the Mecklenburg earned a reputation as one of the 50 best bars in the United States by Esquire Magazine, so we wanted to check it out. The menu is limited to just a few items. I ordered the Portobello Mushroom Sandwich with Avocado. Nicely seasoned with Italian spices and served with chips, it was a bargain at under $7. Aaron enjoyed his Mecklenburger as well. While more than simply good, we were still a little underwhelmed. Then we walked through the courtyard into the back gardens. Delightful and charming! The lovely outdoor atmosphere combined with the historic significance of the place which we only later learned more about left us grateful for having visited the Meck.
