This is the source of the Hudson River. The view is gorgeous with the lake framing the summit of Mount Marcy in the background. This is where Vice President Theodore Roosevelt was camped when President McKinley was shot. He received the news here and had to hurry down the mountain and back to Washington and upon McKinley's eventual death , became president.

This tiny lake, or really a pond, is the highest lake source of the Hudson River. It is found on the west slope of Mt. Marcy. It is peaceful, photogenic and a sublime place to sit and contemplate your long hike to find it and how it feeds one of the great rivers of America.
