Visiting the Fort Morgan Museum gives a visitor a good sense of the history of the area. The brief introduction of the per-historic animal, then Native American culture gives one a sense of life before permanent settlements were established. The museum ties together the various forces of development, from the 1880's to early 20th century. This is a permanent exhibit that does not overwhelm the visitors with artifacts but tells a story. The museum also has a gallery for temporary exhibits, usually artistic in nature, but worth visiting. I would set aside 30-45 minutes for a museum visit. Free but donations requested. Museum also has small gift shop.

Great collection and history of NE Colorado, it's agriculture and a special Glenn Miller (big band) section devoted to his early years.

The new exhibits are beautiful and interesting. The Scottish Castles art exhibits downstairs is not to be missed before in leaves in a few months.

You will get to see some pretty amazing building at Fort Morgan. You basically get to wander the grounds and inspect, something you can't do at all parks. It can be very hot in the summer, so go early and bring some water to drink. Museum is small but packs in a lot of information.

This was my second visit. Unfortunately, there is remodeling going on. However the primary attraction, the Glenn Miller memorabilia was still available to be seen. There is also a nice recreation of a typical soda fountain, pro golfer Dale Douglass memorabilia, and some items from a jockey (I don't remember his name). One of the more unusual items is a 'sanitary outhouse', a project of the gov't in the '30's to control flies!Much of what was not available to be seen at the time I went related to the Indians which lived in the area, both prehistorically up to the 1800's.

The museum and the surrounding grounds are very informative on the various military installations and battles in Mobile Bay. Very scenic area. The grounds are self-guided with a brochure and placards to lead the way.

This is probably one of the better museums we've been to. Great historic displays, well done and documented. The section on Glen Miller (Local hero) is awesome.

Spent an afternoon to morning in Ft. Morgan with my two boys (13 and 9) and was pleased that we made this a 'go to' stop. The variety of items on exhibit is extensive, a great story of the city and community is told and the museum's size is just right to spend a couple of hours. Most impressive to us was the collection of arrowheads and other stone tools - some dating back to the prehistoric era. Museum is connected to a welcoming, well stocked library with a huge kids' area.

We were looking for a fun for children ages 6 & 8. The museum is locted inside the library. It's huge!! We spent about an hour wandering throught the museum area. There was way more than I had anticipated. An original Soda Shop for the 1930's is completely on display, along with scool desks from the past...and much more. We wandered over to the childrens section of the library.......WOW!!!! So many books, clean comfortable and beautifully set up. A must for anyone in the area with kids~!

This museum has displays on the history of the local area. I enjoyed the archeology section, where they had some fossils and Indian arrowheads on display. They also have an old soda shop on display. Nice to stop by for an hour, but nothing too spectacular, either.

I enjoyed the main floor of the museum: prehistoric artifacts, Indian wars, learning about sugar beets, and Glenn Miller. But, my kid loved the lower floor which is all about aviation in Colorado, and includes pilot and astronaut outfits to try on, planes to play with, etc. This is worth a stop and after you can have a nice picnic in the park right out front.

I love planning little weekend fun with my kiddos. Usually a trip to the library or a trip to our local park is a great way to help deal with the boredom. I took our 2.5 year-old to the Fort Morgan Museum and she really enjoyed their lower-level display of aircraft. A lot of what they had on display was hands-on, so it was nice change for my daughter, who loved playing with the model airplanes. Their upper level display is also really neat. It’s something you can probably walk through in about 30 minutes – less than that if you have little kids. It’s fast, fun and educational. I wouldn’t skip out on it.

I often enjoy spending a short time in small-town museums. This one is exceptionally good, although it only takes less than an hour to go through it. But it highlights local history, including that of favorite son Glenn Miller, who spent his high school years here. And, the price is right -- free! It's located at the public library on Main Street.

We were returning to Denver from a trip to Kansas, saw a sign on I-76, and decided to stretch our legs by stopping at the Fort Morgan Museum. We were not expecting much and ended up leaving impressed. They had some interesting exhibits and it was much better than a lot of the other small town museums we've stopped at. It isn't that big. We were able to see the whole thing in a half and hour. And it was free! I liked the exhibit on Glenn Miller, who grew up there, and the displays explaining sugar processing. The sugar stuff was particularly fun as we could see the old Great Western plant still steaming along from the highway. Don't get me wrong it wasn't a hidden must- see gem but definitely was worth the stop. At the very least, the clean restrooms are much better than any fast-food place or truck stop! And the museum is in a park with a playground behind it.
