Did I say AWESOME in my title??? Yes, I think DID! But NOT ENOUGH! LOL!I was familiar with this musical in the 70's when it first came out. I didn't care for the "pitter-patter" of the dialogue, BUT LOVED THE MUSIC.Tonight's revival of PIPPIN had: Improved music orchestrations, inventive choreography, dazzling aerobatics, hints of magic, befitting, colorful and wonderful costumes! AND MUCH MORE!!!It was nice to hear REAL instruments playing the given score! They did use a string synth, but it didn't bother me because they had a few :real" string payers. The WOODWINDS were AWESOME! Each player played SEVERAL instruments (played by NASHVILLIANS!)The singing was EXCELLENT, with exception of a few "pitchy" notes sung by the Pippin understudy. But that's OK: It was a "live" performance and I don't believe his voice was run thru a computer for pitch. (THANK GOD!)The choreography was extremely INVENTIVE! The choreography was ONE of the STARS of the show! Thru the use of inventive choreography... sometimes made me almost cry but also made me laugh my butt off!The dazzling aerobatics: well.... words alone cant express how impressed I was with this multi-talented troop!Hints of magic: They make people appear then disappear, they have a talking head (not sure how they did this) and the good ol act of levitation (not sure how they did this act either!)The cast is hard working and exceptionally talentedPIPPIN runs at TPAC thru March 15!YOU MUST SEE THIS SHOW! YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPPOINTED! INVITE YOUR FRIENDS!We paid just a little over 50$ for our tickets! This is a REAL bargain considering what you get to see: TOTAL ENTERTAINMENT AT ITS BEST!!! A MUST SEE!!!AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME!

We had attended an "Inside Out of the Lunchbox" preview of The Whipping Man, a popular new drama about three men at the end of the Civil War. Having the opportunity to get tickets, we went to a mid-week performance. It was under-attended, sadly. We found very convenient free parking in front of the building, had a drink at the bar, and found our seats. The Johnson Theater is flexible and for this production there were seats on three sides of the stage. All action takes place in the same set, a room in a damaged mansion. It's raining throughout the play, and usually dark outside. Sound effects, special effects, makeup and lighting were very effective, and the three-man cast portrayed their characters well. The play itself was imperfect, as actions and motivations displayed by the characters were not internally consistent, all had secrets, and their demands, loyalties and hopes fluctuated without adequate reason. Still, we enjoyed the performance very much.

This theater was easy to get to. There is a parking garage attached and you can (and should on weekends nights) pre-pay for parking to reserve your spot. We found parking on the street for free but it took several trips around many blocks and we had to walk 3-4 blocks. There is a bar in the lobby, but the line was long and the drinks were twice the price of what you would pay elsewhere, which is typical for a theater bar. You may take the drinks into the theater with you. The theater seats are very comfortable. We sat on the Loge, which has stadium seating and a completely unobstructed view.

Just saw Kinky Boots with wife. The show was excellent. Entertaining and fun. The seats in orchestra are comfortable, but clumsy for other theater attendees to navigate past you to their seats. Not sure there's a better solution, but it would be nice if someone would try. Also, why is there no restrooms on the main floor? You have to go down stairs or elevator to visit the facilities. Who thought that was a good idea?

This was a nice venue to host a dance competition. Parking was atrocious, however. When there is a high-turnout event like this, parking should be reserved, or it should be hosted in a venue with parking.

Visited Nashville a couple weeks ago for the Blue Man Group show. Had an absolute wonderful time. We love this theater. There isn't a bad seat in the house. We were also allowed to take our beers to our seats which was a bonus! Thanks TPAC!

We went to the TPAC to see Blue Man Group. Definitely will go see Blue Man Group again in the future!! They are fantastic. I was also impressed by TPAC. It's a beautiful venue, and I don't think there are any bad seats! Easy to see and hear from anywhere. All the staff we encountered were courteous and helpful. One thing I will do differently next time we attend an event at TPAC will be to go buy my tickets at the ticket booth to see if I can avoid the fees for purchasing online. Each ticket cost us $10.75 in fees on top of the ticket price.

We visited recently to attend the nutcracker ballet. We were pleasantly surprised to see how large and modern the theater itself is with great amenities before the show. The seating on the main level appears to be somewhat unusual in that there are no center rows so as we prefer an aisle seat we were very very far off to the left. We were literally in seats 48 and 49. When we return we will definitely get seats more middle of the row because the spacing is extremely generous between the seat rows. Such a welcome change as compared to theaters in New York City. Also the seat sizes themselves are also very generous with room for your coat and purse. My husband found the signage directing people to restrooms during intermission to be very confusing and requiring going to either take the stairs or the elevator so that may be something to think about taking care of before your show starts. We were somewhat annoyed with the people who brought small infants in the theater as they cried and did not quickly remove them from the theater, disrupting other patrons who shot them nasty glances. The ushers did little to assist in these situations based on what we could see. There's plenty of parking and plenty of nearby restaurants so we will definitely return to enjoy other shows in the future.

Wonderful production and a lovely facility. Only complaint was how long it took to retrieve our car from valet parking after the show. I had someone on a cane and we were standing outside (in the cold) much longer than what I would have expected.

Enjoyed our first visit to the Nashville Performing Arts Center and Jackson Hall to see Nashville's Nutcracker. The orchestra was incredible, the ballet and costumes very good and loved the theatre itself. Nice venue! Plenty of snack and cocktail options before the performance and they let you take your drinks and food into the theatre as well. Get there early and you may be able to find a parking spot on the street a couple of blocks away and save parking $. Can't wait to go to our next event there.

Our first visit to TPAC was to see "The Christmas Story" in the small Jackson theater. It is almost "theater in the round" with the audience seated on three sides of the stage. The play was extremely well done, the cast never missed a cue, and the performance seemed flawless.

TPAC, for a long time, was sad. I avoided it for many years because of its poor acoustics and less-than-desirable seating. After a recent show, I can say that the acoustics and sound are much-improved. However, the seating and viewing angles still have much to be desired. We were in good shape for the production we saw, with a fairly central seat. However, off to the sides, you lose sight of some of the action, and it makes for awkward viewing. When I went to get concessions during intermission, I waited in line for most of the intermission, and ultimately had to abandon it because the only attendant for that level was so slow with the patrons in front of me. It's still the best (only) place in town to see major shows, but there's still room for improvement.

We saw a play at TPAC and the facility was marvelous. The staff were very attentive and helpful. I was a little worried at intermission when I saw all the women heading for the same bathroom. I thought I would never make it back on time to see the rest of the play. To my surprise, the bathroom was HUGE! Many stalls with attendants there to show where the next available stalls were. This kept the line moving very fast.....I got back to my seat with time to spare!Sound quality was wonderful and seats were very comfortable! I would go back. The play was great!! (Book of Mormon)
