Wider and better view than Gooseneck State Park. SUV is recommended. Considering its position, you may see less back light when taking photos. If you plan to drive to Nature Bridge National Monument after visiting Monument Valley by driving UT261, try come here if road condition & your car allowed.

Driving north, there is no sigh for Muley Point. It's the first left once you clear the dugway. If you have driven a bit and wonder if you have missed it, you have. Go back, and yes Virginia, there is a sign that says Muley Point just before the dugway starts.It's a few miles down the dirt road. Just keep driving straight. You can't miss it, unless you drive off the cliff lol.

Personally, I think the views from here, though similar, are better than the more well-known Goosenecks (of the San Juan River) State Park, near by (but a few thousand feet lower!) UT-241 diverges SSW from UT-261 at the top of the Moki Dugway, on the S end of Cedar Mesa. It's a flat, easy, 4-mile drive to the end (which evokes memories of "Thelma and Louise!) to great views over the goosenecks, Valley of the Gods, and out (S) into Monument Valley.

This is a one-destination road off of Rt 261 near the Valley of the Gods at the top of the Moki Dugway. We drove a rental SUV over this gravel/dirt road on a clear, dry day and had no problems getting to the point, although I will say it is a bit bumpy and rocky but this IS a dirt road. Most of the road was graded but there is a very short bit of road that is quite rocky. If you go slow, any car can make it on a dry day. It took us around 45 minutes to drive out and back including time to photograph and embrace the canyon view. You could bring a picnic lunch there and probably have the whole place to yourself! We drove there after having had a picnic lunch at the Natural Bridges Monument and although it had been cold and rainy at Natural Bridges Monument, the sun came out in the afternoon and left us with perfect weather for exploring Muley Point. The canyon is recessed and you won’t even see hints of the spectacular along the way, all you will see is high desert scrub (a different kind of beautiful-wild). Not until you get to the end and walk over the rocks to the rim will you see the amazing canyon views with the famous Monument Valley in the distance. Go into the wild! You’ve probably already driven the Moki Dugway or come from Natural Bridges Monument, don’t miss this view on your exploration of this beautiful country.

Spectacular views of goosenecks on river and monument valley in distance.Road is much smoother than Mukey Dugway, but do not attempt if wet. Would be an impassible mucky mess. Amazing panorama which would probably best viewed about 10am in morning. We arrived after lunch and was getting hazy in distance. It is remote with no services so ensure you have drinking water & gas in your car.

Sure it is a gravel road and it is really really rough in spots but this place is an excellent view that I had never heard about until my Father in Law took me. If you need ADA accommodations, sorry you will need to check out the Grand Canyon. But if you don't mind 5 miles of rough road and a few hundred feet walking over boulders then this is the place to go!

The view is breath-taking; and it doesn't take very long to stop by and see this. My kids loved it; they thought it was awesome. We were there July 2013, but I saw this many times as a child.

It's a tough road to get to Muley Point on a Harley dresser. But we did it. Found that 20 mph was smoother than 5 mph. Still, you'll take a beating. The view from Muley is what you'd expect. Very picturesque. If you like photography, you'll enjoy the visit. Muley point is about 1,100 ft off the valley floor; and the San Juan river is another thousand feet lower, down in the goosenecks. Monument Valley looms in the distance. Someone posted a review with some cool pictures. That's what it's like. I won't go again unless on a photography triip; but it isn't because I didn't like it. I just don't want to do the road again.

Doable but slightly risky in a normal (non-SUV) car. basically you're driving down the middle of the road on bedrock, and would need to put 2 wheels into sand on either side if something comes the other way (we were lucky, nothing did). Basically, you can get very similar views from the top of the Moki Dugway and Goosenecks State park nearby, both also free.

Muley Point is accessed via a turn off from the US-261 at the top of Moki Dugway. The road to Muley Point is about 3 miles and is unpaved - it really is very bumpy and you can't go more than 5 mph, that's the reason why I only gave it 4 rating as really if the road was paved so many more people would benefit from the view - and what a view! It was spectacular, very quiet and peaceful. You can see over Gooseneck State Park and Monument Valley.

Pictures nor words can describe the Moki dugway and muley point.The view was marvelous.Three miles of switchbacks on gravel road was a rush and one of the highlights of our trip. Not for the faint of heart or fear of heights.

Access is by way of a not well marked slightly rough dirt road off of UT 261 near Moki Dugway. Well worth the drive. Great views in almost all directions, especially early & on clear days.

I have now visited Muley Point Overlook two years in a row both in the month of May. It's stop of Cedar Mesa and im the view is breathtaking. You can see forever and in that forever view are canyons and ridges , valley of the Gods, Monument Valley and Navajo mountain. If you go late afternoon towards sunset, the light changes as you take in this view and you see pinks, purples, blues and greens- so many subtle shades of colour come alive. A great place for photography buffs.Both times it's been very windy. There are no guard rails so be careful and don't let children run loose! It's a huge drop down. There are crevices the closer you get to the rim too.Last May we did a cookout but it was challenging with the wind and coolness. Dress for wind and cold.This year we were treated to quite a spectacle. As we stood on the rim taking in the view, out of nowhere appeared a very low flying fighter jet!!!! We ducked down so not to be blown off the ridge and it flew right over us!!! What an awesome gift of an experience not soon to be forgotten. It was only one fighter jet and whoever was flying must have been totally enjoying the view too!Also to drive up to Muley point overlook, one can drive up the incredible Moki dugway road- not for the faint of heart as it is full of hairpin turns and sheer drop offs. Try not to drive this one at dusk or night if you have any height fears. What an engineering fear to have carved out this road!Atop of cedar Mesa are many great trails to hike. We did the Bullet trail. Highly recommended but not an easy trail. Don't miss muley point overlook!

An unmarked dirt road at the top of the Moki Dugway takes you to a spectacular view over the goosenecks of the San Juan River with Monument Valley in the distance.There were 4 other vehicles when we went there on a Tuesday in late April. See it before some clowns start charging admission and putting up guard rails.

Wow what a pretty view. Overlooking the canyon below and off into the distance Monument Valley. So worth the short drive off the main highway.
