If you are in the area of Story City, IA visit the Antique Carousel. As I travel for business this was about the only thing to see in Story City. It is enclosed in a gazebo-like building that has been built to especially house this attraction. Run by enthusiastic volunteers, It. was an enjoyable experience

This is a must-see attraction! The carousel in Story City is beautifully restored and full of history. (which you can read about when you are there) Riding the carousel is great fun for kids of all ages and well worth the $1.00 ticket price. Be sure to chat with one of the volunteers, they love to brag about Story City. Also take some time to enjoy the beautiful city park and playground equipment. This is a budget-friendly way to spend a little time when traveling I-35 through central Iowa. You won't be disappointed.

If you are in the area of Story City, IA, you MUST visit the Antique Carousel. It is open rain or shine, thanks to the great gazebo-like building that has been built to especially house this attraction. Run by enthusiastic volunteers, it is an enjoyable experience to ride, and a nice place to people watch. I was there on their children's Pirate and Princess party.

It would be nice if the hours of operation were listed. Would like to visit but there are no hours listed on the web page.

This historic Herrschell-Spillman carousel was restored in the early 1980s. It has pigs, chickens, dogs, two sleighs, and a spinning tub in addition to the horses. The ride is accompanied by a restored Wurlitzer band organ. All in all, it is a fantastic experience! We go a couple of times every summer, and our kids look forward to it. So do we!
