I love this trail. My kids have enjoyed biking on it, skateboarding on it, and walking on it. When we visit family in LeRoy, we often go for walks after our meals. Sometimes we walk for longer than we had planned, just because it's so peaceful. It's also relatively flat, which makes it ideal for family outings. It does get pretty busy with bicyclists on summer weekends and evenings, but it's never so busy that it's difficult to enjoy. It's just fun to see everyone out and about! This trail is paved for about 20 miles. We start out in LeRoy, MN, but the other towns on the trail have places to start, too (Taopi and Rose Creek). You can also gain access within Lake Louise State Park (you have to have a state park sticker to get in, though), as the trail winds through the park land. Why go to this rural setting for a bike ride? It's an easy day trip from Rochester and the surrounding smaller towns. LeRoy has a whole bunch of fun things to do for a small town. Go out to eat, go bowling, play at the nice city and school parks, check out their center for the arts, stop for dessert or ice cream treats, camp or picnic at the state park, and swim at the community INDOOR pool (east side of school). It's fun, relaxing, and a new place to explore.
