pioneer store museum

We started at the Museum, but found the door locked. Sign said go next door to the Gift & Gallery. There we met the grown daughter of the Edmond family that first took the time, money, and energy to buy the buildings and then start restoring them. So after looking around in the gift gallery, and making a few purchases this gal then let us into the Museum Pioneer Store. She was so full of details and information, especially about the condition of the building before they cleaned it out & started restoration. Turns out there were some old timers who still lived in Chloride who were more than happy to share their memories & stories about the town & it's people. There were so many items to see and she was more than happy to expound on details, dates, and the why behind any of them you might ask about. Initially I believe we thought it might take us an hour, but all in all - because I tend to be curious and ask lots of questions, my guess is we were there about 2.5 hrs. So if you like to learn the history, and ask the questions, be prepared to spend more time so you can really relish this experience. I don't regret the extra time, not one bit (even if perhaps my hubby might have been ready to go sooner.) Just trying to make folks aware there is a great amount of things to see, observe, and ponder... so make time so you can truly enjoy your visit. It IS Worth the Trip...
