We take friends and family who are visiting the area to Wildlife Safari. There are pink flamingos near the gift shop. Stroll around the display area inside the entrance. There is a cheetah, small animals, eagle, etc. Your drive through the wildlife area is fun and interesting. Animals - birds - etc. Well laid out and easy to navigate. You can feed the birds in one area.We always enjoy our visits there.

It's close to Roseburg. I went there on Monday at 10 am when it was just opened. It's quiet and we could spend much time on the road as long as we liked, staying close to the animals and took lots of pictures leisurely without the worry of lots of traffic around. You can go in twice but that was good enough for us after spending two hours there. Had a walk in the village at noon and this time they had lots of students there, but not crowded. The ticket is cheap and with senior rate too. Worth coming for everyone to spend half day here.

After hearing from numerous friends and family about the the wildlife safari, we decided to take our 2 20 somethings. We went on a Thursday morning. It was amazing. The variety of animals is like nothing we had imagined. For starters...before you even start the safari, go see the animals that they have in their habitats near the gift shop/restaurant.For FREE you get to see (and this is just what I remember seeing, so it's not a complete list): A leopard, a few monkeys, pink flamingos, a porcupine, an owl, a couple turtles, goats, pony's, lions, wolves, and the list goes on..Once in the safari (you 2 for 1 with a Groupon) we saw so many awesome animals. Everything from Rhinos, Hippos, Giraffes, Bulls, Antelope, Buffalo, Elk, Deer, Caribou, Water buffalo, Emu, Ostrich, all kinds of birds, all kinds of monkeys, Cheetah, Lions, Tigers, Cougar, Elephant...When we were there it was not raining, so all the animals were out and about. It started raining just as we finished so I don't know what it's like when it's raining. The whole adventure from start to finish took us about 2 1/2 hours. It was SO much fun! This is a MUST for any families or couples traveling through Oregon. It's definitely worth your time and money.

VERY family friendly, but only certain animals can be seen in winter. Parts of the park/attractions are closed seasonally

Loved this place. It is way better than your usual zoo. This place is great for all age groups that loves animals. It takes about 2 hours and you can re-enter before it closes. Definitely bring a camera and video.

We just took my son and his wife and 22 month old daughter to the Safari. We enjoyed it, and my granddaughter was enthralled! The only complaint I had was the early closure of the walking portion. We were there at 3:30 and the café had closed at 3:00 and the activities were over. My advice is to go earlier in the day. They offer senior and military rates.

Wildlife safari makes a nice outing in the comfort of your vehicle, lots of animals out the window including elephant, giraffe, monkeys, big cats etc. As well there is a small animal walk through zoo and snack bar. Depending upon your schedule the drive through can be done in 45 min. or so, but you could spend alot more time if you just want to sit and observe.Great way to spend a half day.....

We were afraid the rain would keep them in their cover but after feeding time they were out on the road and were keeping our windows up : )

My daughter and I had our second visit to Wildlife Safari and once again, we were not disappointed. We went on 1/1/15 - cold, quiet, barely anyone there. The animals were cold and not too visible so my brilliant girl suggested we go on some animal encounters instead of the drive through. We went on the giraffe encounter in the barn (below 50 degrees and the they have to be all warm and cozy inside) + the hibernating bear encounter. FANTASTIC!!!I realized off season visits can be wonderful for "animal encounters" and the place is not so over run with humans. Remember, the cafe is not half bad. We've eaten there both times and for what it is, were not disappointed. The drive through and the walk through are both great.

I enjoy Wildlife Safari every time I go there, and they keep making iterative improvements. The latest thing we noticed is that there is now a lion viewing platform in the village area, where you can go observe the four lions up to their ramblings & naps. It's great fun around the holidays; we got to watch a giraffe bend down to put his head in the cab of Santa's pickup truck, obviously expecting treats and scritches! Major excitement: one of the rhinos charged our car. We were able to navigate around her, but she definitely wasn't enjoying sharing the road. The cheetahs were all up and active, and we got to see the two new little tigresses napping. I always enjoy saying hello to the ambassador cheetah, and observing the smaller animals in the farmyard zoo area.

My wife & I took out two boys aged 10 & 3. We had asked friends in Salem their opinion, and they highly recommended. We arrived about 11AM Cold late December morning.Look like very few people at the entrance. Before we drove to the ticket book, walked kids past the cheetah exhibit, quick pitstop at restrooms. At the ticket booth, a friendly young lady took our tickets , advising us that the bears are hibernating and too cold for the giraffes. A peacock greeted us as we entered park!Total drive through park takes 1-1.5 hours. During the drive we saw rhinos, bison, lions, tigers , deer, elk.. Most fun were the herd of bison blocking the road, coming very close to our car.One more bathroom break, then we were on our way to Roseburg. Right before we left park the sun poked through the clouds! We saved quite a bit by using Groupon.Found newly opened Grocery Outlet within 5 minute drive, nice bargains on food for the way home.

My husband and I along with our 20 month old bought a groupon for Wildlife Safari and used it on our trip to California for Thanksgiving. We invisioned it to be a quick drive through the park. We were surprised to find an area free of charge that has a playground, flamingos, petting zoo, nice bathrooms, restaurant, lots of animals to see, Australian area with animals you can walk through. It was the perfect place for us to have our lunch and let our girl get her wiggles out before we got back in the car. The actual safari part was lots of fun to drive through. The Elk and Bison are not afraid of the cars at all. For a 20 month old 1 drive through was her attention span. We also enjoyed the free strollers that they have.

What a treat... lots to do in the compound area, then you can go for a drive through. Really enjoyed the complete experience.

You cannot miss this. Talk about a visit to other continents, well you'll see it here. Does not matter what time of the year, there something for everyone. Just to let you know, you will return time and time again. Very knowledgable attendants, super friendly and everything you would expect. Great location.

We went the weekend after Thanksgiving. The weather was freezing and rainy for much of the day. We did the village/walking part first before the weather got really bad, and enjoyed seeing the petting zoo animals, lemurs, and other critters around the loop. The place is very well laid out and easy to navigate. We opted for the giraffe feeding and it was SO worth it. Really neat to get up close and feed lettuce to this beautiful creature ($12 a person extra) and get a private guide to educate us all about giraffes and their lives. (Did you know that their #1 predator is an alligator!?) The only thing is it's quite pricey. They charge per person, not per car load. So it was nearly $100 to drive through. But, it is for a great cause and the animals are treated and kept very well. Certainly worth a visit.
