Honestly, if you have not seen Devil's Tower, then you ought to make it a priority. Truly breath taking, and actually a lot of fun to hike around. I would recommend it to anyone. I grew up about an hour outside of Devil's Tower, but it made for a great destination during the summer. Also, you can get some pretty pristine photo opportunities.

Whilst planning this leg of our trip it was hard to justify travelling to this area for just one day with flights in and out of Rapid City required to fit the itinerary. However, when we arrived late afternoon in February, we were the 7th car, visitor 15 and 16 all day and there was snow everywhere. It was snowing steadily and it was just an experience that I cannot replace.Walk the base track all the way around - it doesn't take long and is easy. It gives you a great view of the different faces of the TowerGift shop is well equipped and there is an actual US Post Office at the entry to the park.

I loved it so much! The Native American history behind the area is what really makes it worthwhile. Just imagine worshipping there as a Native so many centuries ago.We walked the Tower Trail, which is the shortest of the trails around the monument. It was beautiful and we were alone for a majority of the walk. When we saw people coming from behind us, we started running until we couldn't see them anymore. It was fun! There were also really great views!

Enjoyed the view up close and from the campground in the park.Stop along the road inside the park and watch the prairie dogs playing.Campground was awesome, $12 a night ($6 with wife's senior discount.) Full view of the tower from the campground, with a dark sky and views of the stars surrounding the monument at night.

I never knew the movie was filmed there until we got there and someone told me. i went twice, the first time i went with my bro-in-law and we didnt actually enter the state park. instead we just looked at the tower from the trading post and then went on our way. two days later my wife and i revisited the tower. this time we entered the park and rode to the base of the tower. it is awesome in splendor. we walked partially up the base. climbers actually climb the whole face. we watched 3 guys climing up for a bit. it looked cool. my favorite part however was near the entrance of the park are the prarrie dogs. my wife and i pulled the bike off to the side and watched these lil buggers for a half an hour. they are the funniest creatures. well worth entering the park and not just watching the tower from the outside.

This is a stop you do not want to miss! If you enjoy cultural sites, the outdoors or geological wonders you'll love Devils Tower. Take the time to walk the Tower Trail if you can...you will appreciate how immense the Tower really is. We were in awe of its grandeur.

The view of the Tower from a distance is spectacular, as there is nothing else of any height around it for miles. The trail at the base is paved and easy for almost anyone to navigate, including strollers and wheelchairs. The views of the countryside from the base of the Tower were also pretty great, so give yourself plenty of time to meander around. You may even get to see people climbing the sheer sides of the Tower!

I'm going to school for Geology so this was a must see after moving to the area. Make sure you not only view from a distance, but take the drive up and look at it close up. I guarantee you would be hard pressed to see anything else like it in your lifetime.

I have passed the turnoff to Devils Tower many times and not taken the time to detour. This time we decided to go for a look as it was a sunny, warm Sunday in January. I was so impressed. It is truly beautiful and to me, best seen from a little distance, though we did drive right to it.I am so glad we did it. Not much out of the way for what you get to see. I highly recommend.

I stopped in here during a December crisscross drive across the USA and so glad I did! I was virtually the only person there and it was so great to hike around in peace and tranquility - just breathing in the energy and essence of this spectacular place. I've planned numerous trips here to climb some of its many beautiful routes, but for one reason or another they never seemed to work out. Now that I've actually been there and experienced it firsthand, I have a renewed energy to return in warmer weather and get on the rock.

Devils Tower is a park in northern WY. It takes about 2 hours to get to from the Black Hills area in SD. It is worth the drive. It juts above the landscape many miles before you arrive. The vistor center is at the bottom of the park, not a lot of parking, but we have been fortunate both times we've been and have found a space. There trail is paved, kind of semi-steep, but has benches if you need to rest. You can walk quite a ways up the tower. There is also a road to drive around the back side of the tower. Make sure you do that - get a different view. There is a fee, but I don't remember now. We had 2 seniors in the car, so they bought a seniors national park pass for $10 each. Well worth it. The pass is lifetime AND gets 3 others in the park for Free. Great bargain.

The trail around the tower is paved all the way through and perfect for groups with mixed age members or wheel-chairs and strollers. There are some pretty steep dips and climbs in the trail especially in the beginning and end- something to consider for visitors on wheel-chairs. The area is stunningly beautiful. I was told I would "only need 1 day" here and regret following this advice. If you are a typical tourist by all means run through and get back in your car for the next big mountain- you will need at least 3 hours for the trail and evening is a perfect time to see everything. The area has few "amenities" - but the locals are very friendly and the Park Ranger staff is just as wonderful as you could expect. Stick around for more than 1 day.

We visited here a few years ago and thought it well worth the detour from our original plans. There is plenty of parking and if you are not rock climbing there are short and longer strolls. The shorter route around the tower is suitable for all ages but when we visited wheel chair access all the way round was not feasible.Watching the prairie dogs playing in the fields was most enjoyable. These animals can be dangerous and one is advised not to touch. The views and countryside are stunning and the original folk lore about The Tower is a good story to retell on a winter,s evening.

Devil's Monument is a great place to visit. It is something to see how it rises out of the ground and to ponder about what created it. The legends and stories are amazing, as well as the geology and speculations. A true world wonder.
