This is an awesome place to hang out, shopping and food all in the same place. There are antique shops, clothing, foodie and even a winter ski shop, if you like eating then this is the place as well.

The McKinney square has just about everything to do in order to have a fun filled day. From shopping the small clothing shops to having your boots repaired to eating some great food. The best place on the square to eat is Gregory's on Virginia. The food is fabulous. If you don't mind standing in line to give your food order, The Pantry has good old fashioned food and exceptional desserts. This is an old place, but the food is good and the price is too. There are so many different places to see, it's hard to remember them all. The Cotton shop has been on the square for years and is a great place for young and old to purchase casual nice things. The Little Red Hen next to the Cotton shop has clothing for everyone and is very nice. Orison's is probably the best place to shop for clothing if you are looking for something unusual and nice. It is expensive but they do have really good sales. If you are in the mood for a good pair of boots, they sell Lucchese boots and have a large variety to choose from. There are breakfast shops, A great teen shop, wine shops, candy shops, antiques shops, you name it, you will find it on the square. There are several parking areas off the square. It is very hard to find parking on the square itself. This is a great place to have a fun day. You will be ready for bed when you finish. Have fun!!! We do.

Love, love, love downtown McKinney. Quite a few unique places to eat and lots of unique stores to shop in.

We celebrated our daughter's (a student at Austin College in Sherman TX) birthday in McKinney and spent most of our time in this area. We stayed at The Grand McKinney (there was excellent little bakery to the left of the main entrance of the Hotel). The entire area was very well maintained and walkable. I am not a big shopper, but enjoyed walking our dogs as my wife and daughter shopped. The stores were local (vs. chain) and well stocked; and our favorites included Facets, a bead and semi-precious jewelry workshop-store, and The Canine Cookie Company, where I bought excellent and reasonable hand-made treats for our dogs.

Downtown McKinney is taking a step back in time. There are no big box stores on the square, but quaint shops with owners willing to assist with your purchase. The restaurants are fun to stop in for a quick sandwich, or for an evening meal. Not all of McKinney is quaint though. Moving further to the west, the city opens into a large area of homes, with other shopping dispersed throughout. If McKinney is a place for you to consider as home, also consider DBThomas Properties for assistance if needed to find a place to call home.

This is a small but a very unique place to visit. Most of the stores are expensive but you can just grab a gelato or homemade chocolate or nuts and walk around and enjoy the alleys and 12 or so blocks. There is a cool shop for dogs and tons of cool restaurants. My favorite is Gregoory's.

This was my first visit to McKinney's square and I could have spent all day there. Whenever our travels take us back, we will stay at the Grand Hotel and dine at Rick's Chophouse and Harvest Seasonal Kitchen. And, shop, shop, shop.
