I have been going to Caverns CC once or twice each year for a 3-day golf trip for about 20 years. The golf course is wonderful with great views and is well maintained. The staff changed in the last few years in the clubhouse and what a great change to witness! I feel like the course staff really appreciates my patronage. Paved cart paths added, some sand traps removed, and carts allowed on #1 !!Great pace of play and excellent course management and staff!

The Good, the view from the tee box on the first hole. It is an elevated tee over looking a lengthy par 5 with beautiful white sand traps guarding either side of the hole. Pay close attention to these traps, they are the ONLY ones on the whole course that have any sand in them. All other traps are clay filled gravel pits which can seriously scuff up your favorite wedge. The Bad, any place other than the fairways. If you are not in the fairway you will be hitting off of hard pan with very little grass at all. The only part about this is you almost have to try to lose a ball. The Ugly, gnats, gnats and millions of gnats. I cannot believe they cannot find a way to spray this course to get rid of them. Our group has been going here for years at the end of September and these buggers (Hah, buggers) get worse every year. Last year we had to put up with them on holes 11, 12 and the tee box on 13. This year they swarmed every hole except number one. I would not reccommend this course to anyone, nor will I return

Recently played this course and wow!! What improvements. Greens role nicely (had heard they had a disease last year but you cannot tell now), Fairway's are tight (grass wise), the views are spectacular. I will recommend this course to anyone who will be visiting Luray. The staff told me about their Facebook page that has up-to-date pictures and this course just looks amazing. A must for anyone visiting Luray, I cannot say that enough.

Golfed here and the course was in terrible shape. The whole course was unkept, traps were dirt/gravel, greens were slow, and the insects were unbearable. The holes were all straight fairways with little differentiation among different holes. The scenic views are beautiful but I would absolutely not recommend anyone to golf here.

I've been golfing at the Country Club for the past 15 years. This time we were actually golfing alone on the course due to some rainy weather. It is unfortunate that more people don't golf at this course since it is so scenic and a beautiful course to golf. The men that manage this course are so friendly and accommodating. People that run golf courses in Canada need to take a lesson from them. More people from Canada should take advantage of the golf course because the package they offer for meals accommodation and unlimited golf can not be matched anywhere.

Our group of 13 made our annual trip here for our marathon of 7 rounds in 4 days. The course is in rough shape to put it kindly. Grass on the tee boxes is virtually non-existent, especially on number 2. The greens were deseased again this year and are not improving. There were a few of the bunkers where new white sand had been added but most of the traps are filled with ground clay and rocks, no fun if you find yourself in them. The staff are as nice as they can be and we never had an issue with any of the carts. This is a tough layout. If you are 65 and older swallow your pride and hit from the gold tees unless you are absolutely even length wise with the group you are playing with. You have to be an absolute beast to reach any of the 5's in two. We had some long hitters in our group and no one did even during our afternoon scrambles. Our Sunday morning round took nearly 5 1/2 hours. We made contact with the ranger once we reached hole 10 and there were 4 groups backed up on the tee. The ranger rode forward and found the problem but did not push the group ahead a hole to ease everyone elses pain. If you are looking for views and tough test, give it a shot. If you are looking for a top notch course you may have to go to Shadows of Blue Ridge in Front Royal 25 minutes north on 340

Recently visited this golf course and what a sight. Fairways are green and are in good shape. Greens are in a lot better shape than a lot of courses I have played. Staff was excellent and was told that a major storm went through last year which knocked the power out which caused them to have no water, but you cannot tell this know.

I read that the course is under new management, spent four days there last week and it is not helping much. A lot of the greens were virtually none puttable. So deseased and bare that it was comical. This course is hard enough with the greens being in such bad shape. The traps have no drainage at all. The area experienced rain Thursday night and then gorgeous weather from then on, played Sunday and ALL traps were still filled with water. The staff try to be nice and they have upgraded the food selections. The group I played with have been doing this fall trip for 21 years, now looking to go elsewhere next year, that should tell you something. The scenery around hole number 6 might be worth playing it once.

So the views are the only good thing about this golf course. It is poorly maintained. Fairways and greens are in poor shape. Several of the greens actually had holes that some kind of flying insects were going in and out of. Ball washers are about every 4th hole. The only real bathrooms are in the club house. The yard markers are only on the cart paths at 200, 150 and 100 making it impossible to know exactly how close you are.

A difficult course. No driving range. We arrived after storm damage, so probably can't give a fair review. The staff was terrific.

See motel review for more information. Course has new management and is in excellent condition except for bunkers, which they are repairing one by one.

Our group played 7 rounds here in 4 days as part of their Fall Golf Getaway package. The tee shot on number one par five is quite intimidating. You hit off of an elevated tee down to a sloping fairway, as your ball disappears over the crest of the hill, you can only hope for the best. All their par threes are between 140 and 161 yards which makes it a little boring in that aspect. Hole number six has one of the best scenic vistas I have seen on a couse in the East. The staff are very nice and the jumbo hot dogs between the rounds hit the spot. They allow you to bring your own beverages on the course which is a nice casual and cost saving touch. Holes number ten and eleven are really two tough holes back to back. If you bogey both of these you have a shot at a decent back nine, but beware, these two holes CAN ruin your day also. The course was in decent shape for the amount of rain the East has experienced with only a couple bad spots on some greens. The bunkers in front of number 14 were marked as ground under repair for good reason. This hole needs some serious help around the green. Overall, very nice and challenging course with very nice staff.
