I have spent many Sunday afternoons browsing the shop and relaxing atop the mountain. Came here as a kid when there was a sky lift.

Love to take old Rt. 52 and always HAVE to stop this old store. They are selling more locally made goods. I picked up some of the most delicious Black Walnut Bread. I hope they continue to add more handmade crafts and items.

We have been here several times. enjoy the old fashioned atmosphere, great ice cream. Have many things to buy at good prices, friendly folks and the view is awesome!

Even though it was past peak color, the view was breathtaking. Loved the winding roads...a welcome change from boring interstate highways. Very little traffic on the road, so when a flock of about 8 wild turkeys crossed the road in front of me I was able to slow down and watch as they headed into the woods.

We took Hwy 52 from the East River Mountain Tunnel, all the way to Wytheville, VA. Beautiful drive, with some awesome views! Stop at Big Walker general store, and walk around. They have some interesting things to look at. The day we were there, they had live music in the store, which was a nice touch! Even if you elect not to climb the observation tower, they have some vantage points that offer awesome views of the surrounding area, especially on a fall day!

Was a beautiful view but had to pay $6 if wanted to climb tower.... so didn't. ? General store ok, but could stand to be more friendly

20 minute ride well worth it. Staff are great and a wonderful view. Gift store was a classic and the view at the top of the tower was worth spending a couple of bucks.

This tower gave us an amazing view of the Appalachian Mountains and a chance to take scenic pictures during our Crooked Road music trail trip. The store is quaint and filled with handmade items and retro souvenirs. The ice cream is not to be missed and there is live local music on the weekends.

I love a drive up a winding mountain road and the trip from Wytheville to Big Walker Lookout did not disappoint. I highly recommend a drive up to see sunrise in the summer, especially if you have a convertible!

I'm sorry you didn't like our attraction. If the restrooms were dirty, we ask that we are notified immediately so we can clean them. Sorry they weren't clean for you. It is true that our attraction is rustic looking. We have been here for 67 years. We hope it is not dirty though and we try always to keep it clean and fresh. Yes, we do charge for climbing the tower but I can assure you that it is safe and a family member climbs it and inspects it weekly. Possibly that ugly pile of dirt in the front caused you concern. Yes, it is pretty rough but it is part of our remodeling as we took down a cinder-block wall that was leaning and we are replacing it with a new one. I'm sorry you think our prices are too high. We always try to keep everything as reasonable as possible but that is sometimes tough in these times. Of course, it does not cost anything to look around and see all the handmade things in the shop and the wonderful scenery of this National Scenic Byway. It is so beautiful. Please stop by again. We always try to be a wonderful rest spot on your trip.

This attraction was exactly what I expected it to be. At the time it was $6 to climb the tower, which gave a nice view of the valleys. Beautiful views and the ice cream I had was pretty good. I didn't explore the store very much, but I'm sure my wife would love to have looked around the quaint little store.

Our friends recently took us to this site. It was a beautiful view, but I am not sure it is worth the ride. The "country store" is more flea market and souvenir shop. We had ice cream - some of which looked like it had freezer burns so we avoided those. We were happy they did have some delicious frozen yogurt.
