Stopped here with a group visiting wineries in the area.Pros: The outdoor patio and deck areas were really beautiful, and when we got there an older gentleman who was very friendly greeted us.Cons: The tasting room isn't very inviting. It kind of feels like you are invading someone's 1989 kitchen. The woman pouring the wine seemed awkward and uncomfortable with our group. Maybe she was new. She did not make any conversation other than stating what she was pouring.I am not much of a red wine drinker, and most of the wines were reds. The red wine drinkers in our group thought a couple of them were very good. The per bottle price was around $25.Conclusion: If you want to stop in for a tasting, go to Shenandoah Vineyards instead.

The passion and the pride that the winemaker (who poured my tasting) has for his wines is evident, and the Reds deliver. I'll definitely go back.

Their website was a little misleading -- made it seem like this was a dog-friendly winery. Dogs are only allowed outdoors, however, so we unfortunately weren't able to stay as it was a pretty cold day. Seemed nice, but people should just be aware of this.

We have been to a number of vineyards to do wine tastings. The tasting room wasn't as fancy as some of the others we have been to but Willie made us feel like we were old friends. He was very informative about his wines and very proud of the medals he had won. He gave us suggestions on other attractions and restaurants as this was the first time we had been in the Shenandoah Valley. We totally enjoyed our time with him.

Enjoyed tasting the wines even though none were outstanding. We even tried the blueberry wine. Not what we were expecting. It would be great to mix with lemonade during the summer. I didn't like the way I felt rushed while tasting. We weren't done with one before the staff was back to give us the next wine. The winery was in a house converted into the tasting room. It was small and felt like we were in someone's kitchen. Not very warm and inviting.

This is a beautiful vineyard but with a very small tasting room. The tasting area is set above a converted garage and it's like you're sitting in someone's kitchen and enjoying some wine. The wines are very good. Their chambourcin is amazing and they are known for their blueberry wine. The hummus and cheese plates were good, but nothing fancy. Very enjoyable and low key.

Stopped there and shared a wine tasting with my wife. Tasting fees are reasonable with military discounts and you can keep your glass if you buy a bottle. We liked the Meriage, a blend of cab franc and chambourcin. We had a picnic on the grounds with a small grill and had a beautiful view of the Shenandoah Valley. If you like smaller more mom and pop winery this should be a stop for you.

We came by on a weekday as a small group (6 of us) and wanted to try a few wines. They only had 2 dry whites and we tasted both. Didn't really care for the chardonnay, so we went with the Viognier mixed (50/50) with Traminette. It was just OK. It was a little odd, as it felt like a sparkling wine when we poured it; had to let it settle to get the bubbles to go away. The tasting room is very pretty outside with many places to sit. The inside is very small, but nicely done. The staff is very friendly and accommodating too.Their wines were a little pricey, being in the mid to upper $20's compared to nearby wineries which offer lower priced wines, like the reserve chardonnay at Shenandoah Vineyard for $20 compared to this one for $24 and the Shenandoah was AMAZING!But, to each their own... definitely worth a try to see if you like it!

My husband and I stopped for a wine tasting. We were the only people there to taste when we arrived. We were greeted by a not so pleasant women, I think we interrupted her quiet day. She quickly said to us the tasting would be $7 each, did we still want to do the tasting? It was like we were bothering her if we wanted the wine tasting! We said we wanted to try the wines, she began pouring the samples with the automatic wine pourer. She must not realize that it stops automatically as every time after she had about a teaspoon of wine in the glass she would stop the pour. I have NEVER had such a tiny sample on a wine tasting! The tasting area had a deck outback that looked over the vineyard. They might have more business if they had a more pleasant and knowledgeable person pouring the wines. We did buy a bottle that we liked, it was $24 dollars. We thought that a bit pricey considering that other wineries had just as good or better products that were less expensive. In my opinion, I would skip this winery and visit some of the many others that are more friendly and less pricey. Shenandoah Vineyards is one that is close by and is a great place for a wine tasting and to enjoy a bottle of wine during your visit!

My Fiance' and I made a trip from Hagerstown to the Shenandoah Valley in January for a weekend getaway and stopped by Wolf Gap to pick up some used barrels to decorate for our wedding reception. Wolf Gap Willie braved a recent snow storm and frigid temps to get us to the storage barn, helped us load the barrels, then opened up the tasting room for a personal tour. The hospitality was truly southern, and the wine was even better. Lobo Loco and the blueberry were our favorites, and we even enjoyed the drier wines that we generally do not prefer. We will be back in warmer weather to enjoy the scenery, the hospitality, and especially the wine. THANK YOU WILLIE!!!

My husband and I were out on a wine tasting trip and found this Winery by accident. He bought a case of the Cabernet Sauvignon Special Reserve....Funny thing he normally doesn't go on wine tasting tours with me....He was a little shocked by the price of a case of wine. LOL. Didn't realize there were12 bottles in a case of wine. I am still chuckling over this. (he is a beer drinker). We loved their wines so much we became wine club members. I am now a wine club member of 4 winery's in Va. I only join the wine clubs of the Winery's with great wines. To me a winery either spends time and energy into making it look great or they spend time and energy into making their wines taste great. I never let my eyes deceive me. Because long after I leave a winery I can go back with the smell, taste and feeling I had when I was there. I get this experience from a glass of wine made with passion and love. This place does that for me. That is why I am a proud pack member. So if you want great wine, great hospitality and wonderful views of the Valley this is a must visit.

Our family was on a trip to Virginia in July. My mom and I decided to visit Wolf Gap... the only complaint I have is - we don't live closer!! We're up here in PA - about 5 hours away. Mom and I had a WONDERFUL experience. The views on the deck are spectacular. The wine - FABULOUS. We bought a case... we ended up drinking 4 bottles while visiting Virginia - so we made a return trip to Wolf Gap to ensure we had enough to bring home! Our tasting was so much fun! The tasting room is beautiful - beautiful views all around... the ambiance is warm, welcoming, and friendly. And these folks have deep knowledge of wine... Mom decided her favorite was the Chambourcin. She has YET to find another that is comparable. I thoroughly enjoyed the Chambourcin Bleu - such a unique wine... and I love the Blueberry and the Lobo Loco. You will NOT be disappointed if you visit Wolf Gap... well - if you live 5 hours away like we do, you'll only be disappointed you can't get back more often!

I love wolf gap winery! It has the best view of any winery in the valley and some of the best wines too! The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. Definitely worth the trip.

If you're looking for the fancy villa, polished chestnut bar and a make believe European experience this isn't for you BUT if you like great wines, a beautiful view and some intriguing conversation then Wolfgap Willie's your place.
