A girls day out at White Silo Farm & Winery in Sherman, CT was such a great time. Your choice of four delicious wines to taste followed by a tour of the farm by Eric (farm owner) then a great boxed lunch while we all relaxed and enjoyed a bottle of wine. Before leaving we were treated to a glass of sparkling Raspberry wine and a sampling of white and dark chocolate. Everything was delicious! Definitely a re-do.

A special tapa dinner offered was expensive and a bit unorganized. Some paid customers didn't get to sample all of the tapas offered. Also, the wine is made from berries, not grapes. Different. Don't plan to go for lunch/dinner however...just wine tasting.

As we came up the hill & around the curve we couldn't miss the white silo with a red barn behind it. The location was very nice & had several outdoor tables with umbrellas to enjoy the delicious box lunch . The bar keep was very knowledgable & recommended the order we should taste the wines we selected. The tour was very interesting from the crops they grow to family & land history. A definite must visit.

White Solo Farm and Winery is a great spot for an afternoon of good food ( they sell a box lunch along with wine ) and a tour of their farm and wine processing and the tasting, of course. Tucked away in Western CT, White Solo Farm and Winery is a must stop on your wine tour.

I've been here many times to attend their different festivals such as raspberry or asparagus, as well as attend their art shows. This time we opted for a tour, tasting and lunch. The tour was only about 25 minutes and was full of interesting facts about the farm and wine making in general. The box lunch that they provided was excellent in that it was good, whole ingredients and very tasty- turkey sandwich on Terranova bread and their raspberry mustard, quinoa salad, mixed nuts, cheese and figs, and a turtle brownie. Also came with chocolates after and a glass of sparking Red Raspberry wine. I believe they're in their 3rd year of producing grape wines (prior was all fruit based) and they are ok. I enjoyed the sparkling red raspberry and their sangria. White Silo is very picturesque and I think anyone who visits will have a nice afternoon. They do have quite a few tables where you can buy a bottle of wine and sit with your own picnic lunch. Staff is very friendly.

An another visit to a winery on the CT wine trail. Lovely setting. Wine was pretty good. The grounds were beautifully landscaped. Our bartender was very knowledgeable. One of the better wineries.

I found this wonderful small winery in Sherman, Connecticut which I think is a best kept secret. It's in the lush rolling hills of the countryside of Sherman and is not hard to find. When you go in nice weather they have a nice picnic area outside with pretty red umbrellas where you can order a small lunch and have your wine outdoors. I chose their lunch package which includes a wine tasting and tour of their facilities showing you how they make their wines. Besides the grapes on the farm they have other varities of fruit they make into wine such as raspberrries, blackberries, and rhubarb which are very good. It's a nice afternoon out at a wonderful little winery.

Attended the winery's Asparagus Festival. Certainly a different idea, never heard of that type of festival before. The asparagus dishes were tasty. The wines were mainly fruit wines, which are not my favorite, but were pleasant. With the good weather the outside area was very nice. Tables w/umbrellas and chairs scattered about, live music, birds overhead. Winery is flexible, bring your own food, if you like, no beverage police. People stayed outside after closing, no problem. Some CT wineries can be a real bear about that stuff. I went to one where our large group bought hundreds of dollars of wine. One person had a special diet and had a small bottle of juice. The owner accused him of bringing in hard liquor and threatened to call the police. Kind of spoiled the day.

We had found this winery through the CT wine web site and thought we'd give it a try. It's a very beautiful area with a nice seating area out side with a great view. The wines are different from what I'm used to and I have to say I was very surprised at how good they are. I'm looking forward to going back as we had such a great time the first visit. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, reasonably priced wines and the old New England charm of the tasting room in the barn make this a perfect place to visit.

We recently stayed in New Milford and visited White Silo along with nearby Hopkins Vineyard and this by far was my favorite. I am not typically a wine drinker so the variety of fruit wine appealed to me very much and they were all quite good in my opinion. White Silo is run by a father son duo both of which were there, working, and oh so sweet while we were visiting. They have tables and chairs outside and as of now allow outside foods so going for a tasting and packing a picnic is well worth an afternoon and the 15.00 for two for tasting and another 15.00 or so for a bottle for picnicing. I wish i could remember the name of the woman who gave us our tasting because she was so nice and really made the experience that much more informative and enjoyable. If staying in the area or from the area I would definitely recommend a visit.

Always intersting decor from local artists. Often tastings including cheeses. Fruity wines are not everyone's thing but definitely enjoyable afternoon.

We visited this winery in october and used a travelzoo voucher which was purchased for $49.The voucher was clear in its offerings, but unfortunately the establishment was not. We registered on line as instructed and were told to arrive by 12 pm. when we got there the bartender looked surprised that we had arrived so early and quicky mentioned that the owner would not be available until 1:30 pm for the tour. There was also another couple there using the same voucher who received the same info. The box lunch offered was adequate, nothing special and the tastings were fine. The travelzoo voucher also made mention that the deal included 2 souvenir glasses to take home, as well as a seasonally available gift. These items were never offered to us and were left off a sheet given to you by the winery, detailing your activity. After going back and forth with the owner Eric, he finally sent the items to me via mail.Way to much hassle for me.

This winery was awesome, I visited using a deal from travelzoo, and it was well worth it. We sampled eight wines, and a sangria, we were given some chocolates a boxed lunch, and a jar of mustard to take home. We also had a tour of the winery. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour that was led by Eric, and even though it is late October we were able to pick and eat red yellow and orange raspberries that were very tasty. We also purchased the rhubarb and raspberry wine to take home with us. We will definitely return.

Definitely worth the visit - a gorgeous area of Connecticut alive with fall foliage to enjoy. The farm/winery is small but inviting. The grounds are attractive and productive. The wine itself? Well, while it wasn't our 'cup of tea' we did sample several (8), among them a rhubarb wine. Kind of unique, I did like it!Really, an hour or so is enough to spend here, so it is really something you might do in combination with other places on any given afternoon. Or, you can relax outside and enjoy the scenery sitting at an outdoor table in the shade.

Went there last weekend, we had spend some time wine tasting in California in July, and wanted to try out a winery closer to home.We had the groupon "deal", in which you get a $100 value for half price, well, forget about groupon, just head up there and buy the stuff straight from the winery, wine tasting sets you back a whole 8 bucks, and the box lunch in $20, I thought the box was overpriced, but understand a winery has to make money as well, so it is what it is.The wines there are mostly fruit wines and are quite tasty, we bought 7 bottles, and the wines are very reasonably prices, the tour is fun also, nothing spectacular, but certainly informative.One remark, the winery makes and sell their own mustard, it's about 5 bucks for a small jar, they should place a taste of this mustard in the lunch box, might persuade more people to buy their products.
