Majestic in its place atop a beautiful Connecticut hill, nestled in the charm of a quintessential Yankee treasure, The Sherman Playhouse is sure to warm your heart and spirit of supporting quality local arts!! A mischievous and well considered season of offerings makes this gem a must see destination despite its rural feel. Casts are formed under the auspices of "local" talent but take note, this is NOT cut-rate, nor sub-par. The hills of this tiny enclave holds many quality actors who bring their "A" game to each and every production. Something for everyone, not necessarily all musicals, or all classics but sometimes the morsels theatre lovers forget they love to appreciate and see!! Seating is done in the style of its building, New England church pews, with padding, and cozy. It is air-conditioned and heated and sometimes parking can be a small walk from the near-by town offices shared parking lot. Currently under major renovations to the lower level of the building, the inconvenience of bathroom usage at the adjacent city offices, will be temporary. Construction on lovely new bathrooms, green room, and dressing area for the talent is expected to be completed by April 2015. Ticket pricing is very reasonable and preview price is even lower!! The Playhouse is also home to a lively Improv evening attended by a group of irregulars who play and perform and audience participation is gleefully encouraged and welcomed!!Troupe holds court at intervals allowed by the current running show of the Playhouse. Check website for details. The Sherman Playhouse is worth the trip...
