Located in the Union Church (1829) which is listed on the National Register of historic Places, Peter Greenwood's Studio & Gallery is stunning! Of the Dale Chihuly variety. Be sue to see P.G.'s glow in the dark glass. This is his studio as wel as gallery of his works. The paintings and jewelry are the works of his wife Christine Chase-Greenwood and they are also incredibly beautiful. Hand carved furniture is also available as are glassblowing classes. www.petergreenwood.com Everything from chandeliers to paperweights Don' miss it!

our large and varied party (age ~6 - 70) spent the afternoon at the Greenwood study. From the youngest to the oldest, we all had an opportunity to blow and shape glass. It is something you should try at least once in your life. It was lot's of fun and Peter does a great job guiding guests through the process. It's off the beaten track but worth a visit to this converted church / now glass blowing studio.

We had a great time learning how to make a glass paperweight and checking out the really awesome converted church that houses Peter Greenwoods Glass Blowing Studio. Peter makes gorgeous glass objects and I especially loved the Caribbean blue glow in the dark glass sculptures. I've never seen anything like them. Peter is a great teacher and made the whole experience enjoyable. You really gets hands on in working with the glass. My sister enjoyed our trip so much she signed up to go back a session where she will make 4 different glass objects. Riverton is pretty quiet but it's definitely worth the trip to see the studio and make a glass keepsake.

The studio itself is set in beautiful historic Riverton in a beautiful historic chapel. How perfect to have a glass blowing studio with stained glass windows in the chapel. All of the pieces he has to sell are amazing. We did the paperweight workshop and had a fantastic time. He takes you through every step showing and explaining the process and then you actually experience it! Will recommend to all friends and family and do hope to get back there soon!

We visited Riverton during our recent trip to Connecticut and thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the Greenwood Glass Blowing Gallery. Peter Greenwood couldn't have been more friendly and my wife enjoyed making her own glass paperweight. To add to the experience, the studio is located in a nearly 200 year old New England church. I highly recommend a visit to Riverton if you are in the area.

what a great place! Peter Greenwood is a polite, quiet host, but oh can he blow glass. The studio exhibit area has a wide variety of his work on display and for sale. We came across the place while antiquing in the area on a Saturday. Well worth the visit.

This is truly off the beaten path but if you want a unique and fun experience hop in the car and drive to Riverton, CT to make your own glass art. Peter Greenwood offers glassblowing workshops Tues-Sat from 9am – 5pm. Depending on your level of interest (and pocketbook) you can make a single glass object like a paperweight, decorative flower or ornament for $30-$45 or you can go whole hog and sign up for a glass blowing workshop which runs $200/per person. Prices as of 2009.My husband and I signed up for the workshop - it was 2 hours in length and just the 2 of us. We had a great time as we selected the colors and made: 1 flower, 2 paperweights and a vase. It was a once in a lifetime experience and we now appreciate how much skill and effort go into glass work. Our pieces will never win any awards but they're pretty, make us happy & remind us of our time in Connecticut.Peter Greenwood was knowledgeable, friendly and very patient; he really made it a wonderful experience. For a few extra dollars we saved ourselves some hassle and had our pieces shipped home since they take hours to cool and trying to transport glass in our luggage would not have been fun. I would recommend this workshop to anyone, it was the best thing we did in Connecticut.Official info at: http://www.petergreenwood.com/BTW - Riverton is a pleasant 50 minute drive from Hartford but don’t let that deter you. The Cat Nip Mouse Tea Room down the street is excellent for lunch - the Turkey Yammy Sandwich and the BLT soup are to die for and well worth the drive.
