Skiing at it's worse. Family treated like a slab of meat1--overpriced, with mediocre food unless you hit a day that they are seeing the on-deck barbecue. Mohawk Ski Staff are rude, the ski lodge in run-down, dirty and weathered. Ski Butternut for a wonderful family ski adventure, close-by.

We went there for night-skiing (first time ever at night) on a weekday and we enjoyed it. They have a few nice runs and a good portion is illuminated, however it gets boring after a while as it is a very small ski area, so nothing for a full day of skiing, but just good for a few hours. Night-skiing as well as the discounted lift ticket price ($26, weekdays 2015 season) start at 4pm, which is an advantage to Sundown in New Hartford, where it starts at 6pm ($37, weekdays 2015 season). The lifts are a bit outdated and slow and it gets really uncomfortable during a chilly evening.

Not for young adults looking to party or super amazing riders/skiers looking for a great black diamond. The terrain is decent and so are the lifts, the prices are great and it's close to everything. Plus Cornwall is a nice town.

I recommend a lot this place, is beautiful, fun, and reasonable prices. My husband and I spent once two days and the second time was just the last weekend and it was better. Every thing is organized, clean, nice people, fun environment.

Perfect overnight ski trip from NYC. Very well run and nice facility. Plenty of trails for everyone.

Good for beginners as well for advanced riders. Went on a holiday weekend and the mountain was not crowded at all. The only drawback for us was there was no bar in the lodge.

We went here for a daytrip because we were two hours away. The mountain was great. It was definently more than I expected. There are great greens for practice and blue and blacks of you want a challange.

We were staying in New York and decided to get out of town to Kent and Cornwall for some fresh air, the locals recommended Mohawk Mountain for some exercise.Number and length of the pistes are limited, however, even in the warmer weather Mohawk manages to keep snow on the runs, no mean feat, great for beginners and family day out.

Not the biggest mountain, but has enough trails to be pretty fun; Given the night-skiing hours and what the other options look like in CT, I'd say definitely the best option around where I live

We visited Mohawk Mountain for a friends wedding. I am not sure if the staff was from the lodge, but they were REALLY super and attentive. The lodge main area was very spacious and the back patio / pond area was very beautiful with a great view of the mountain. At night you can hear all the peeper frogs which is really cool, and maybe a little fog / mist lightly settling on the surface of the lake. Of course we visited in spring so no snow or skiing, but it was an overall great experience. The facilities were very very clean. I may need to come back in the winter. Also, plenty of parking!

My buddy and I decided to go ski one day and picked this place. It had decent ratings on google and tripadvisor review so we decided to give it a shot.in short? We loved it. I traveled from SC to visit the family so we ended up renting equipment as well. I think it was only $69 all together? and that was for the ENTIRE DAY. Can't beat that price.Pro:Staff: very friendly, very excited to have people come out. oddly many of our interaction with staff was various instructors there while on/waiting on a lift. A bunch of cool, hilarious guys and gals. WE even spent some time with their new director of instruction whom apparently came out from mid-west for the job. Pretty cool. I could tell the place was putting some serious thought into it.Lift operators: while it was a slow Thursday, these guys were friendly and easy to talk to. once again a good bunch of guys that wants to be there. I'd personally bored out of my mind.Equipment:I rented poles, boots and skis. They were brand new, not a single scratch on them. I thought I might have gotten lucky but upon looking around I noticed all of their equipment seemed to be new. My buddy told me they were closed down for a bit so I am thinking either new owner, renovation, new capital etc. Hey I am happy with the results.Slopes:Some people might find it not as channeling or big or long etc. If you want all that, drive to Vermont. This is a small ski area in CT. I thought Mohawk was rather nice actually. besides where can you go ski at night. Where else will you drive 20 min to go ski all day at a great price?I liked just fine. Oh yes, there were some ice in certain spots under the shades on the edge but no biggie. People:There were snowboarders as well as skiers out there. A good mix of gender and age as well. Every singe one was friendly and was having a good time. Everyone said hello, waved and etc. I've been to ski resorts where most was stuck up elitest. Not these people.CON:I generally don't eat while I ski or go somewhere else to get out of boots but we actually ended up eating there. Prices were outrageous. 2 bottles of Powerade was $8?? my buddy got a burger fries and a powerade and it was like $18. I think I paid less at Disney. I know I paid less at Smithsonian last week for their famously expensive food. Then again, I guess it's a first-world problem. lol I recognize that they do have to make money and concession definitely helps out but yikes. Overall:Oh yea I will go there again when I'm in CT. Nice ski area with just the right amount/type of people.

As a first-time snowboarder, who recently relocated from Texas, I can't be more complementary of Mohawk Mountain. My boyfriend and I have been there two weekends in a row, and can only say good things about our experience. First, the area for beginners is really easy to navigate. There is a "Magic Carpet" spot for simple practice down a small hilly or straight slope surface. It's never been too crowded at one time, so you get to spend a lot of your day getting comfortable on your equipment before taking the lift.Second, the lift for the bunny hill is really well organized. This weekend the lift operators were upbeat and friendly, making a lot of people super comfortable getting on/off. The first weekend we went, we chose to go early in the morning and grab a lesson. For literally getting in a snowboard and on the snow for the first time (since we have nothing like that in Texas) the lesson was useful. The next weekend we went, we chose to go after 4vpm when they run a special on Saturdays. It's only $45 for rental, lift (all areas) and lesson. This time we opted out of the lesson since we simply wanted to practice the moves ourselves, and they cut the price down for us. Overall, every staff member has been friendly, and helpful (from rentals to the cafeteria). Even the food (especially the fries) is great. And with the special deals they run, it doesn't seem too expensive for a couple like us. The atmosphere is also really relaxed, so you don't feel pressured to be perfect at whatever sport you pick.Even though it's the middle of March, I have no doubt we'll be back when we can.

A beautiful hour drive from Hartford airport! We took our two teenage boys for their first ski trip and they had a great time! Awesome staff with beautiful views and plenty of snow without breaking the bank! Hubby skied on the more advanced trails and was completely satisfied. They're already planning a return trip next year. Although no overnight accommodations, plenty of places to stay not too far away.

I visited Mohawk yesterday, the conditions were excellent. The food is great and reasonably priced. The lift operators are so friendly. The employees there are helpful and have great attitudes. Hands down a great place to spend the day.

Mohawk has a 650' vertical drop--the biggest in CT. There is a bout 25 trails, some quite long. There are a couple of black diamonds that provide some challenge, but really, this area doesn't offer too much for experts. But for kids, it's great. There are many children's programs some of which go all season, developing the kids into solid expert skiers. There are also lessons for adults. Mohawk has a great rental shop. Hundreds of skis, boots, poles, boards--everything you can need. They have an inexpensive season rental program which is great for youngsters.Mohawk does a great job grooming and makes a lot of snow. If you want to ski in Connecticut it is a must to go here.
