The owners have taken the time and energy to create a breathtaking view from a beautiful building. You will be surprised what is tucked away just off the main road, it is gorgeous! They have a huge porch that you can relax on with beautiful views of the vineyards and countryside. The food is absolutely delicious. We have always been thrilled with the filets, salmon, chicken, all of it is wonderful. And the salad dressing is their own creation, and I wish I could take some home! They give special attention to all of their guests. We go for the food, the view, and the atmosphere, but enjoy the wine as well. Take the time to try it, you will be so happy you did!

They just got a new sign that is gold with wine barrels on each side (It is hard to read).Once you enter their gravel road, keep to the right side and go across the old wooden bridge. The structure is fantastic and looks wonderful. This is the best winery building in the entire area. Their food is good for dinner. I like their pasta and steaks. Also, their basement has a neat reception hall and cellar. Have been here 10+ times. The ceilings are amazing with huge beams and view over the vineyard. I wished they had nicer silverware and glasses for their wine. Sometimes they serve things with plastic utensils and plastic cups with paper plates. Guard your food as their two nice dogs roam around!

Winery wouldn't do a tasting as it was "Burger Night", but nowhere on their website was this mentioned. One would assume a winery, when open, would do tastings. Isnt that what a winery is for? Obviously this one is not interested in getting their wine out as they also didnt have an obvious area where you could see their bottles. They were more of a restaurant and gift shop.

Amazing atmosphere, but food is only average. Food does not live up to the surroundings. Seems the steaks have good flavor but are not top quality. We did enjoy the pastas the most and the dry vignoles. The creme brûlée is more like a brûléed pudding.

My wife and I have been to Weingarten Vineyard several times and have taken guests with us on many occasions. It is our favorite Winery in the Missouri, Illinois and surrounding states area and all of our guests have all thoroughly enjoyed it as well. We were first drawn to the building, which is a magnificent structure. You will find very few wineries anywhere in the country with a more grand setup than here. We were also drawn to the variety of wines. The fact that they have partnered with Hug Cellars and also have several other wines from all areas of California and Oregon along with a few offerings from all over the world made it an instant hit with us. After several visits of drinking the West Coast Pinos, we began trying their Norton and Chambourcin and found them both to be the best wines we have ever had from a Midwestern vintner. Their Norton can stand up to a great steak or a bold red sauce pasta as well as many Cabernet Sauvignons will and their Chambourcin is much like a good Syrah or Red Zin. We have always found the owners and all the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. I read a couple reviews about slow service and complaints about not bringing in your own food. I find these amusing, 1st, because I don't go to a winery to get in a big hurry hoping for Fast Food type service, jump in, drink a quick glass of wine, eat a quick bite and get on down the road!! I want to enjoy my time with friends or even the two of us. I want to enjoy the day, the setting, each sip of a great bottle of wine. I want to enjoy good food and a good variety of it. Show me a restaurant that will let you bring in your own food! I want to be waited on and treated like a part of the family. And we always get that at Weingarten. The restaurant has a Pub Night on Wednesday evenings serving burgers and sandwiches, a Pasta night on Thursday evenings which is great! And the full menu on Friday & Saturday evenings. That about covers it. A gorgeous building, with great wines, solid food offerings that can satisfy any cravings and people that care and want you to come and enjoy your time with them.

I will begin by saying my husband and I went to this winery because a friend had her wedding and reception here. We did not attend as normal winery customers. The building is beautiful upon approach, although the drive to get there from the main road had me biting my nails. We waiting for some of my husbands co-workers in the very large gift shop before being led through the winery, out the back door, and down the terraced outdoor seating. This was a bit treacherous in heels. One of the the pavestone blocks that constructed the stairs was missing, and it seemed to need more hand rails, especially for as steep and short as the treads of the stairs were. If there was a rail, it was to the extreme sides of the wide stairs. I held on to my husband and took it slowly. We were led through the grass to the west side of the building. (I could have had an easier walk from the parking lot around the side of the building.) The sun blinded everyone during the outdoor ceremony, which was held on a pavered area. There was a section of ground next to the ceremony area and building that had exposed pipes and a little gravel. It looked unfinished. Then we were welcomed into the reception area, which is in the basement or lower level of the winery. The room was nice, but could have used a few shades. The west wall was windows/doors that faced the west and ceremony area. Half of the guests at the table could have benefited from sunglasses inside. I was asked to help cut the cake. There were discrepancies between what the wedding planner (not from the winery) and the winery person told us about what we were supposed to do. A section of the wall in the room is missing. There was an unfinished part that was filled with barrels of wine. The lady from the winery (owner?) said it was actually there inventory of wine, which was pretty cool. The wine was okay. Not the best, but not the worst I've had. No children are allowed on the property. If you are considering having a wedding here, keep that in mind.

We were surprised that there were so few in the restaurant on this BEAUTIFUL fall Sunday. I would think that most wineries would be jammed on a gorgeous fall Sunday but not here. The service was very friendly and good, but the food arrived slower than expected. The was good but not great. We will go back but worry that they may be struggling. This is a gorgeous facility and needs to be crowded.

This was our first time at this winery and we can't wait to go back! The building is absolutely beautiful, inside and out! We happened upon this winery by chance, what a hidden gem. Our dinner plans at another winery fell through and that's how we ended up here; after our experience at Weingarten Winery we are so glad they did. We found the Weingarten Winery to be very accommodating to our last minute needs. The hostess was very nice. Our server, Connie, was a delight and very attentive. The house salad dressing is a sweet vinaigrette and is very good. We chose the Beef Medallions entrée and the Escolar entrée, both meals were very good. We tried their Chardonel and Rose wines but our favorite was their Blackberry wine. This is a very nice place, even though they have linens and such you will still fit in something casual like jeans and a polo. A nice touch was the pianist. Overall, this is a gorgeous property with a beautiful view, nice ambiance, and delicious food! If you are wanting a winery trip that is loud, crazy, and a party environment this is probably not the one for you.

We stopped here on our self guided wine tour. They definitely need better signage as we almost didn't find the place. It was beautiful inside and out, wine and dessert were good, entertainment was very nice, very relaxing spot to visit.

We made reservations ahead of time for large party as website said it was necessary. Having not eaten there before we didn't know you could order from deli and eat in dining area. When we asked if we could order pizza we were told our reservations were for dining room menu only. There were maybe 6 other people there all total. I didn't feel they were very accommodating considering we were their largest party of the day. Food came out at different times. The food was good, but there are too many choices for a beautiful day at a winery to go back there. No music, live or stereo system. It could have been so much more. I'm not sure if they aren't doing well or if management is reason. It's a shame because the facility is beautiful.

Yep, it is a winery, but couldn't bring myself to buy a Missouri wine when a perfectly fine California Pinot Grigio was available. Lunch was good. Sandwiches and generous salads. Nice beer options as well. You would think that the establishment would want to sell glasses with a favorite beer label - after all it is a business!? - but oh no!? Too bad. And yes, the building and grounds are lovely.

We were yelled at by the owner within the first five minutes of being there for walking by the pond on the property right by the main building. She said it was a liability. Ha. But owning a winery isn't? I would think if you don't want people to walk near your pond, don't have one right there, or put up a fence or sign. They were incredibly rude about it. Also, the railing is falling out of the deck sides all the way around the place and was not blocked off. Falling off a side of a decrepit building seems like more of a liability than walking near water. Our friends had already ordered food so we had to stay. The food was just okay. The beer was Schafly, so it was good. Our waitress was very friendly. I think she felt bad about how rude the owners were. I read on the website later that children are not allowed, which is likely we we were treated so poorly. No one mentioned that though. Also, no food or pets are permitted. It was fairly empty on a beautiful Sunday, so I'm guessing this experience was common. We will drive a few extra miles and go to Charlesville or Chaumette like we usually do from now on. Sooooo disappointing.

There are lots of wineries in the area but this one is by far our very favorite!!! We love the atmosphere, the wines -- try their Riesling if you want something light -- and their menu is very good. Thursday night is pasta night so give it a try........we always take friends to this winery and will be going again this Saturday. Connie, the owner, is fabulous and makes you feel right at home not quite like some others that have an air of snobbishness.

Wonderful scenery and beautiful tasting/dining room, but the service was aloof and inattentive (with the exception of the very friendly greeter in the shop at the entrance). Also, the local wines we tasted, especially the Nortons, seemed very off (though were moderately priced). Not sure thsi winery will merit a return trip.

The family and I went down for brunch and wine. Food was great and wine very good, bought a few bottles home. I'm looking forward to going again before the holidays for dinner and to see how well they decorate.
