My husband and I just stayed at White's. We arrived on Monday at about 9am and checked out Tuesday around 11am. We were able to check right into our cabin as soon as we got there. It was very clean and well taken care of. The sheets smelled fresh and it looked as if the carpet had been recently vacuumed. It was perfect for the two of us!!!We tubed down the river that day. WE WERE THE ONLY ONES ON THE ENTIRE RIFLE RIVER other than about 6 people in kayaks! It was an awesome end of the summer trip for us. We will be back for sure! We had an issue with wet fire wood so, the owner gave us some from his personal stash and refunded us our money!Staff were awesome/bus driver was very niceBathhouse was very clean and very close to our cabin. Our tubes were excellent. (2 deluxe tubes 1 cooler tube)

They have group camping areas and "Family Area". We stayed in the family area. Thursday was great. Friday the 20 and 30 somethings started to fill the family area with 4 and 5 tents to a site. While walking the dogs people was asking us if we wanted jello shooter. Every third word was the "F" word. Partying, drinking and loud music until 1:30 am. Security did nothing to stop it. No cell service to call the owners at there house at the far end of the campground. Next morning talked to the office and they said they had no way to control weather they were families or not. Maybe they should notice that the people checking in to the site all have different last names and addresses.

Got cheated out of my money. Got on the raft and and the valve literally broke after 5 minutes of just floating so obviously the valve was bad. Asked for a refund since I had to stop every 5 minutes to repump. The owner or worker told me there was nothing he could do for me. You give me a tube that breaks within 2 minutes of me getting on and you can even take responsibility as a business???(and no I'm not over weight) the tube was broken at the valve stem (where you pump the air). The showers are either scolding hot or warm. Be prepared to jump out the shower immediately if the water starts to burn you. They should put a scull guard so the water doesn't change temperature like that. If you want some kind of disease then those showers will give you that. They are sick and disgusting

We spent the weekend at White's and had a great time. The check-in process was easy, our site was large, and it wasn't full on the group side at all. The deluxe tubes are worth the extra $5, the cooler tubes well worth the $5, and the 5 hour trip was the way to go. If you're going to do the trip, the 10:30 start time is busy as can be. If you don't mind waiting, you've still got plenty of time. They took care of the cans and garbage at the end so we didn't need to take it all back to our site. Be smart about tying the tubes together, its easy to get stuck on the edges and rocks. Towards the end the river gets very shallow with lots of rocks, so lift your bum and get a move on. Watch for the sign for another campground with a beachy area to the right at the end - piles of tubes and other groups. There's no signage to tell you it's time to end your trip. We'll definitely go again.

Each year my friends and I go to the Sterling area for a tubing trip. Due to Riverview already being booked we decided to try White's. The campgrounds are certainly not the cleanest and the tubes do not compare. The atmosphere is however wild and fun. Not place for a family camping trip.

We hold our annual Memorial Weekend Camping Trip in Sterling every year, last year and this year being held at Riverview...last year during a second summer camping trip we did our canoeing through Whites due to trying to coordinate with a group that was staying their, big mistake...there was no coordination to the check-in process and made it a jumbled mess...you have to wait until your group name is called to direct you towards a bus to take you up the river, rather than directing you to an area. the bathrooms were disgusting and I have seen cleaner ones at a dive bar in downtown Detroit.Go ten minutes up the road and stay at Riverview...its family run and they seem to have a pretty good hold on things, making the checkin processes for canoeing and camping flow very seamlessly.

This place is a joke. They are only intetested in putting money in their pockets. Rest rooms were constantly filthy, out of paper towels and toilet paper and on 2 separate days there was no running water. They said we were on river front sites...if by river front they mean a 50 yard hike through the woods on a poison ivy laden path...they were correct. They ran out of firewood onb Saturday. When the guy showed up to pump out the port-a-potty he was cheered for like he was the super bowl mvp. Will never go back to this campground.

Took our money, but heard them laughing & talking about our group as I walked passed the screened window....we all "looked poor, but now their money is in my pocket." That big brick house in the background...is that yours?

This was the worst tubing trip I've ever been on. The People at White's were some of the rudest people i have ever met!. A couple friends and myself went for a relaxing tubing trip and it turned out to be far from that, we got not even a mile away from the launch when i noticed my tube was losing air pretty quickly from the valve. Luckily my friend had brought her phone so we called the office and told them what had happened and if they could send someone out with a new tube for me (cause i figured that they would check their equipment) and the lady on the phone said well your supposed to check the equipment and i'll try to get someone out there and hung up on me. We then ended up waiting 2 hours for some one to try and bring us a new tube a mile up the road. so we called again and the lady started yelling at me telling me that they had sent someone out for 2 hours looking for us and that we would have to hike back up the river for them to get us a tube. So my boyfriend got in the water and started to pull all of us up the river meanwhile tearing his feet and legs up. we finally got a new tube 2 and 1/2 hours later. we then finished our trip and i went up to the office to talk to the manager about how the had conducted them self and they continued to tell us that there was nothing to talk about that we needed to leave and i said no and they threatened to call the sheriff and told us to get the f*** out of their office. I will NEVER return to this place and i advise that no body goes there.

I go to White's once a year. One weekend out of the summer six of us go every year. It is not a quiet camp ground nor is it a super nice camp ground. It is however my favorite weekend of the year. The campground serves its purpose. I personally wouldnt recommend bringing kids. It is more of an adult weekend. We relax, have fires, some adult beverages and then canoe one day. We all go into it knowing we are going to be tired when we leave (the group campsites can get pretty loud and it is hard to sleep). It truely is a good time though. They take you by bus to your canoe, tube, whatever you decide on and you end up back at the campground via river. It is just a lazy great weekend! None of us go to be pampered, that is what hotels are for! We all just go to relax and have fun!

Clean water, relaxing (no need to paddle), shallow for young kids, no problems with the "party crowds". Perfect! Everyone was friendly and family oriented. Water warm, clean, young kids could stand up of the wanted to get out of tube. Tubes held my plus size figure with no problem. Kids tubes have a bottom. Wonderful family activity!

Will be going tubing in August and plan on staying at the Riverfront cabins with 2 other couples. I believe it is our best choice for our group.

My mom and I rented deluxe tubes (equipped with bottom, head rest and cup holder) and took the 1.5 trip. I LOVE that your tube trip ends where your car is parked, rather than being bussed back.We shared a bus ride with a large group of 20 somethings, all with beer in hand. The bus ride was rough, loud and dusty, but short. The bus driver loaned us a piece of rope (I recommend bringing your own in case they don't have any) so we could tie together. The trip was under the estimated time, and I could've gone for at least another hour. Take your time, stop along the way, and bring some beverages. The next trip up from 1.5 hours is 5 hours and the young man helping us disembark mentioned that many people who do that long of a trip are MORE than ready for it to be over. The water is gently flowing, it's not too deep and would be a good ride for a first time. There is a lot of vacant land along and so it's peaceful. There were a few kids that had a home along the bank about halfway between who were collecting bottles. I don't know how frequently they are out, but keep your empties handy for them. Also, get a tube with a bottom because the water is so shallow, you will be running over branches and rocks that you'll scrape yourself on. There aren't any bathrooms on this trip, so plan accordingly. Don't forget you'll have to take your car key.

K so it was fun, but it is not good for familys or Christian retreats like they advertise. I call this a party campground and party river. So many stupid people. I did not see one group not drinking. The whole camp ground we went by they were all drinking and acting crazy. Sleeping at night......no it wont work. People stay up allllllllll night drinking, watching dumb movies on projecters and haveing partys with loud music. Whites does not care. To add to that we were not aloud to canoe because the water was to high. They did not even call to let us know after we called for reservations for a canoe trip. We had use tubes instead. Plus they forgot our cooler tube for food, and we had to wait at the launch for 20 min or longer. Boy it was fun because we kept a good additude. But floating by the camp grounds was so bad with all the drunks thowing up and doing dumb stuff :( :( :(

I made a promise to never return. The whole trip started with just two people and one canoe rental. After talking the adventure up to all of my friends we ended up with five canoe rentals and 12 people. I brought my own two kayaks for me and a friend to use. We were sort of the guides for the trip. I asked how much it would be for White's to haul my kayaks up river so I could start and finnish with the group and the wanted 60 dollars. You'd think that after a guy brings 10 customers at 50 dollars a piece they might give him a slight break. I asked the owner if could follow the bus and put the kayaks in at the same location as my friends and he wanted 40 dollars to use their launch sites. I asked if there was a public launch close to where he was launching my friends and he assured me there wasn't. He said my only option was to pay the 60 dollars and have him haul my kayaks, or to pay the 40 and launch at his launch site. The 40 dollar option included me leaving my car on the side of the road. Needles to say there was in fact a public launch within sight of his private launch and it didn't cost me anything but a little gas to join my friends on an adventure that I had planned to begin with. Instead of showing his appreciation for bringing new customers to his establishment he lied about the public launch to try to make another buck off me. Way to treat a Good Customer White's. The camp sites were filled with roots and very uneaven for poor sleeping conditions. The roadways were all sand and people kept getting stuck in front of our sites 19 and 20. This was the last time my family and i wil evar stay here again. Sorry for bashing your place but a small family business should be more willing to help special circumstances. I'll be trying Rivers View next time.
