lake st. clair metropark

I went there last weekend for the first time and like pretty much every other water body in this region, it was completely frozen! It made for quite a sight (what I was looking for) and quite a few people were camping out there. Something about the endless ice cap made it look like a different world and I'm really curious to know what it looks like in May! It was a great spot for some interesting pictures especially since the sun was out.

After Metro received its much needed face lift this park turned into a great place to have parties, bring the family for a nice day in the sun, great place for bike riding, a walk on the boardwalk, mini golf, regular par 3 golf, fishing, boating, oh and almost forgot to mention... The pool with slide for the kiddies! Hard to beat cheap entertainment like this for the whole family!

The name has changed to Lake St. Clair Metropark recently, but the locals will probably continue to call it Metro Park for many more years. If you don't find your answers under this heading, try looking it up as Metro Park. It is a great place to visit at almost any time of year.

This is an interesting park. I believe it's a very well equipped park for families. You can find kids playgrounds, tennis courts, golf courses and lots of water sports. Although I'm not really sure about the water health conditions.

This was a nice park. You have to pay to get into this park even if you have a MI park passport (which is wrong because it is limiting who has access to greenspace). Aside from that, there was some concern because several large fish were washed up dead along the shores. That can be fairly normal, but even seagulls weren't interested in feasting on the flesh of the recently dead fish, which raises concerns for potential contamination. The water might be fine, but that is a worry. There were a large number of huge tractor tire tracks and ruts along the beach and the trails near the beach. It made walking a bit difficult. Aside from that the lake was lovely, although quite full of seaweed. The facilities and areas for children to play looked nice (we didn't use them). There was some picnic spaces (again, didn't use but looked well kept).There was also an insane amount of fish flies that were there when we went. This is something that is natural of course, but it was impossible to walk and talk at the same time. We went late June, so if you are planning more than a short visit here, you may want to check into this further. It was beautiful from a distance, it looked like falling snow in the sunlight. Walking through it was another story, and they covered the majority of the park.

We come to this park for walking when we are in Michigan, and it has much to offer. On one side is the picturesque lake. On the other, boats in their slips and more boats tied up at waterside homes across the inlet. There's a beautiful marine feel to the area, and a lovely seaside smell. The park is green and lush with walking and cycling paths, and many squirrels playing hide-and-seek with tourists and their cameras. The setting is perfect for a brisk walk or leisurely stroll. The only sour note this visit was struck by an irresponsible cyclist speeding on the path without regard for others. It was very dangerous and spoiled our enjoyment. Perhaps a little patrolling is needed, along with education for cyclists who mistake the park for a race course. Other than that, we had lovely walks in this beautiful park while visiting in Michigan.

A very spectacular park. Specially the pointed tip of the park is very fresh and quiet place, where you need go either by walking, cycling or by a trolley. Kids also enjoy the water-squirt zone in the summer and the mini golf too. Has a long board walk also.
