I grew up in Flat Rock and have been coming to Huroc Park since I was small. The park is best accessed just off Telegraph Road behind the Senior Center.Huroc Park is both scenic and unique. The majority of this park is an island that sits in the Huron River. At the center of the long row of parking you'll find a set of restrooms, a small community center and the covered pedestrian bridge that takes you to the island. There are many things to do including:-fishing from both sides of the banks (but not the bridge)-great children's playground-3/4 mile paved walking and bicycle path-picnic amenities -outdoor basketball court-open play areas perfect for flying a kite, playing frisbee or many other things-special events (http://flatrockriverfest.com)On the far north end of the island toward Kate's Kitchen, you'll find a set of train tracks on a road bridge that connects Flat Rock Metal (park portion closed to vehicle traffic), waste water treatment plant and the Flat Rock Animal Shelter. There is also a fish ladder that cannot be seen as part of the dam.The far south end is a little more scenic with large, mature trees covering the paved path. You'll also find another foot bridge that connects the backside of the island with the mainland. This bridge connects the bike path that runs all the way to Lake Erie Metropark.Huroc Park is a wonderful place to fish, take a walk, let the kids play or just spend some time. It's also within walking distance to the local Dairy Queen on Telegraph! It has always been one of my favorite parks! If you found this review helpful, please let me know by clicking the button below!
