It's terrific to hike here! Very tranquil and soothing. I imagine the scenery will be stunning at fall. Unfortunately we were there during summer. But the hikes are fantastic all the same!

This is where you can get some great vistas of the “Grand Canyon of the East” from the west rim. It’s not as “polished” as the Leonard Harrison side—we did not see a visitor’s center, for example. But it’s worth it for the number of beautiful views available within a relatively short distance. We started by walking the Barbour Rock Trail, a 1-mile loop trail that takes you to the edge of the PA Grand Canyon. Then we continued to drive on the road, which was paved; then parked our car, to catch 6 more vistas of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. All of the vistas seen from the Barbour Rock Trail and the additional vistas were lovely! I do not like heights, or being on an edge; these views were high up, but they were far enough back from any edge that I had no issues. We took lots of photos; we would definitely go back again!

We did the Rim Trails and the Turkey trail. If you are scared of heights or don't have sure footing do not go on the Turkey trail. There were spots that it was so narrow you could only step in front of the other foot. Dry leaves made it very slippery. I did splits and slide on my tush a couple of times. BUT I would do it all over again. It is beautiful. The trail markings should be updated as some trees were rotten out and some markings were barely visible so we actually ended up turning around, scared of getting lost.

When we finally reached the park we were extremely happy with the colors showing on the trees surrounding the gorge. All trees were a golden orange and some red. Great picture time.

Don't miss this! There's lots of hiking and camping but all you have to do to see the canyon itself is to drive up and walk a few yards to the lookout point.

The view from here was amazing! There were picnic tables that you could use (in the warmer weather). Walking paths and the view was spectacular! Thumbs up!

colton park is on the opposite side of the canyon. It has views very similar to The Lenard Harrison park/ lookout but definitely view from both sides! Great pavilion areas. Parking is below each pavilion. Just an awesome view of mother natures finest offerings! Even with traces of snow from this morning, mid to high 30's temps and a high wind!! Dress warm and enjoy or schedule a visit when spring bursts into blossom!! No facilities on this side of the canyon.

You drive up the mountain hill and then you see a parking area that is very small. the outlook is there. Small area for viewing but nice. we went in the morning so no crowds. No bathrooms. Recommend coming to this view first then driving over to Leonard Harrison State Park for the larger main view of the canyon.

We make the 2 1/2 hour drive every year to see the canyon. The leaves are beautiful this time of year. It's definitely worth the drive.

After having been to Leonard Harrison State Park, the more commercial side of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, many times, I finally got the opportunity to visit Colton Point. I LOVED IT HERE! There's no gift shop or snack bar just clean, fresh air and beautiful views. The drive through the woods is beautiful and the Four Mile Vista is stunning. The fall foliage was beautiful, though I think I was a week too early for peak colors. Autumn has a special smell - crisp, clean, with the scent of pine in the air. I didn't want to leave!!

About 25 yards past the viewpoint is a turnoff to the right that takes you to a campers field... if you follow the dirt road through past the campground, it will take you on a beautiful 30 minute ride through the forest and back to route 6. Near the end there is a fork in the road, take the right branch to return to route 6 (not sure where you'll end up if you go left)

Good day trip, especially in the fall to see the magnificent autumn colors! Didn't do any of the hiking trails but did enjoy the views from the top of the canyon.

Last summer my boyfriend and I randomly found this park with our GPS, and decided to check it out! We absolutely fell in love. It has great views and easy trails. We are actually going this Saturday for our third time!! Gonna try the turkey trail! That trail goes into the gorge. I can't wait!!

We visited Colton Point State Park specifically to hike the Turkey Path and to our surprise we drove around looking for the trailhead and when we finally found the sign at the parking lot, there was no indication where the trail actually started. So we just started following the blazes for the Rim path and lo and behold stumbled across the signs for the turkey path. After a chilly morning rain, the skies cleared up before we started this 3 mi round trip hike. The trail is very narrow and steep and more "treacherous" than the turkey path trail found on the Leonard Harrison State Park side. That being said, at no point did I feel unsafe even on the wet leaf covered trail. There are no benches or man made resting places along the way. The waterfall was beautiful though and worth the trip. I would say you could go as far as the waterfall and not encounter any sketchy places if you wanted to go that far and turn around.

The vistas were stunning. There were some trees already turning. Be prepared to hike. It is worth it :)
