norristown farm park

Wide open. Nice grounds. Great, quiet place to talk a walk or a run. Minimum 100 characters stretching....

Another local spot. I'm at this park up to three days a week.My husband and I both do our walking here as you can have a macadam trail if you please. For the adventurous, there are trails that wind along the creek. I also volunteer here by leading bird walks for kids and adults. Photography and or owl prowls. There is an environmental educator here, Ruth, who always has some program going to keep all interests satisfied. This is still a working farm also there is a trout nursery on the premises. Many fishermen come here. As well as hikers; bikers; dog-walking is welcomed (on leash) The superintendent is in to native species, which is always a plus. Very safe as rangers patrol continually. All nice guys.A favorite local hang-out for us.

It's actually still a working farm with a rustic back country feel. The walking trails are nice and there are picnic facilities with built in grills. If you fish there are stocked streams with plenty of indigenous species. It's a far cry away from the rest of Norristown.

Property backs up to the norristown state hospital and sometimes the paths can be scary. Ladies do not jog alone!!!

We love to go to the farm park and ride bikes and walk. There are many trails to take and so beautiful to look at!

We walked with our dog about 3 miles on a gently rolling paved loop. Part was through a nature trail, also farm land and along stream beds. There are clean, running water bathroom facilities at the park office (near the dairy barn) and picnic tables and benches all along the loop. There is also at least one large covered picnic pavilion that I imagine must be reserved in advance. There is parking near the entrance, but we drove further to the office and parked there. Much of the loop is off limits to motor vehicles.There was even more to see........we saved the hay barn area and others for next time.,
