Stopped in on the drive home to Pittsburgh after spending a weekend in Indianapolis. It is probably a solid 40 minutes outside Indy. We were there on a snowy Monday and the volunteer worker said we were his first two customers! One thing to note, this is the HIGH SCHOOL hall of fame, so if you're expecting to go and find out about Bobby Knight or IU basketball, you will be disappointed. However, this place is still very interesting for basketball fans, and you can really tell how important basketball is to the state of Indiana. While it does revolve around their high school history, they do have a section devoted to players who have made it to the NBA, which was pretty cool. If you're a basketball fan, for $5 you really can't go wrong.

Having previously visited the "Big Three" Halls of Fame, I can't say enough good things about this facility! Hoosiers have always loved their basketball, and it's clear in this building. The displays are top-shelf, the information is first-class, and the staff is knowledgable. I'm not from Indiana, but I'm a life-long fan of high-school basketball and I was there for two hours. If you're a fan of basketball and know anything about "Hoosier Hysteria," this is a must-visit site.

We have lived in Indiana all of our lives but never visited the Hall of Fame. We were pleasantly surprised at the memorabilia on display including items from the movie Hoosiers. Any basketball enthusiast would appreciate the displays and history. Take a few quarters with you to see if you can make the winning basket for your team! Self guided tour is around an hour at a leisurely pace. Very young children will likely be bored. Our kids are 8 and 13 and enjoyed it.

What a great museum! My wife and I were traveling through Indiana on our way home to Pennsylvania from a two month stay in Arizona when we happened to pick up a brochure for this museum at a roadside rest area. I had never heard of it but after reading some reviews on Yelp I decided it was worth a stop. The Yelp review had mentioned a giant sneaker at this museum so, if for no other reason, I had to have a picture of the sneaker. Well, the sneaker outside the museum is really cool at over six feet high, but it is what's inside the museum that will have you in awe. The museum's artifacts include memorabilia from Milan High School (think the movie, "Hoosiers") to Larry Bird, John Wooden, Oscar Robertson and more. I have to admit that the museum's focus seems to be on Indiana high school basketball players, but it does have a tremendous amount of material about players that most basketball fans and non-fans will recognize and enjoy even if they are not that familiar with Indiana basketball. Make sure you bring a supply of quarters for the exhibit that allows you to take the game winning shot-HE SCORES!!! With the exhibits and the numerous short videos at the exhibits you can easily spend two hours here. All for only $5. Don't tell anybody but I think they should charge more for all the fun you'll have in here. Oh, make sure you take time to talk to the volunteer staff-most of them are retired Indiana basketball coaches and former players. They were a delight to talk to. It's a great place to visit more than once since I understand they are constantly changing their exhibits. All I can say is go. You'll be smiling when you leave.
