My boys just wanted to fish this summer. Boy did Allen's Hillside deliver! We spent two nights at Allen's Hillside Motel - which is fun if your kids have never seen a 1970s motel before. Remember you stay here for the fishing or hunting not the amenities. The owner and guides make you feel extremely welcome. They take care of everything except your lunch/snacks and drinks that you might want while fishing. We bought some groceries at the store across the street from the motel to pack in our small cooler for the boat. My husband and I were able to just relax and have fun along with the boys since our guide baited the hooks, fixed snapped lines quickly and took the fish off the hook. We caught our limit of walleye (4 per day/8 total possession per person) in July on both days and threw so many other fish back. The guides will also fillet your fish and package it appropriately, including freezing it if you are staying more than one day. We had the restaurant next door prepare some of our fish the first night. They currently have about 10 fishing guides. From the end of the day stories they all seemed to be very good. They had nice boats and equipment as well. We definitely plan to make a return trip but may look for a hotel nearby with a pool next time.
