DCSC001
Mill Town Players opened on Friday, September 12, 2014. Their inaugural show "Always.....Patsy Cline" continues until the 28th. The theater wasn't full, after all it was Friday night during football season in Pelzer, the audience was enthusiastic and supportive. An experienced cast, well done lighting and set. The great part of this old mill town theater is that it is being revived by Will Ragland, a local teacher and home-town boy, who is being supported by some of his former students, lots of local volunteers and his theater friends in the greater Greenville area (15 -17 miles away). It was a great show, lots of friendly people and the energy and joy of opening night contributed to an enjoyable evening; the band played well, Patsy sang those memorable tunes with a sincere voice, and the Jordanaires were in tune and full of melody. An early dinner in Simpsonville or Greenville, allows time to get to a Friday or Saturday evening performance, or catch the Sunday matinee. Mill Town Players have a full first season planned, with Dark of the Moon starting on, you guessed it, Friday, October 31, continuing to November 2, with a couple of mid-night shows. This group deserves a visit or two, plus you will be helping support the expanding theater scene in the SC Upstate.
