The setting is magnificent--hills just like Bavaria. You can usually count on beautiful weather and just a pleasant evening. The outdoor theater is up on a hill, but they have a bus to get you up there, if you like, although it is a nice walk. This is a MUST SEE if you are in Leavenworth in the summer time!

This was my second time at a Leavenworth play. Previous was Sound of Music. Out doors, folding chairs, out-houses, some walk from parking, place for handicap don in front--lovely adventure. Go with friends--even more fun. This is not a $100.00 ticket, Seattle performance. This is a casual, fun performance where the actors interact with the audience--from helping you park to Yetnta stopping by your seat, offering to find a "match" for you (perhaps the gentleman a couple rows back might do--would it help if she found out how much money he makes?)My children did not perform in the show, but it would be one of those wonderful experiences for a young person to be able to spend a summer in such a place and partake of such an adventure. For that you can not help but cheer for them.

We went with low expectations and left totally amazed at the production. These folks are very talented and do professional theater, It was that good. While the show is long I never got bored as the story line keeps moving. It is well organized and the actors work hard. Highly recommend this.

We attended the Sound of Music and the casting was great. Many talented singers and the orchestra really made this a magical night. After the play many cast members were out on the walkway back down the hill to greet the audience and take pictures, which was fun. We paid just $25 for our seats and you could see well from all of them. Being outdoors at the top of the ski hill with all the white lights and the theater was great.

The summer theater is amazing. The cast is professional, kind, outgoing, and overall the best! Stay at the Enzian and go see a play!

Highly recommend seeing the Sound of Music at the Leavenworth outdoor theater. A couple of tips... pay for a seat cushion. They are only $1 at the door. Bring a blanket in case it gets chilly during the show. Wear shoes that are fine if they get a little dusty. It can be dry and the path to the outdoor theater can be a little dusty in the late summer months. Bring your own beverages in case you get thirsty. I don't think they allow coolers but I'm sure you can bring in a non alcoholic beverage with you.

This is one awesome production with a very professional cast. We truly enjoyed every minute. The setting is awesome too.

This is the perfect place to see the Sound of Music. It is in a mountain setting The acting is very good. The Cascade outdoor ampitheater is a comfortable place to see the show. Since the theater is on the hillside, its important to allow yourself enough time to walk there and get to one's seat.We thoroughly enjoyed seeing Sound of Music in Leavenworth.

There is nothing like being out doors and in the mountains to see Sound of Music. Definitely go to this while in Leavenworth, WA. It is an experience you will not forget.

Amazing production with such a talented cast!! You truly feel like you are in the real setting of this musical, being in an outdoor amphitheater in the Cascade Mountains. The actors and beautiful singers easily transport you to the Alps! My 12 year old granddaughter enjoyed it, as did we adults, but I probably wouldn't bring younger children, as they would get too tired, and it is a long walk back to the parking lot.

The outdoor venue in the mountains is perfect for The Sound of Music. The actors and actresses are some of the best I've seen in theater. Do arrive at least thirty minutes early as instructed in the directions, it's quite a walk up the hill to the theater. They do have a shuttle for those who have a hard time walking.

Great actors and orchestra! Didn't seem like a small production at all.. Great sets! The nightmare seen was fantastic!

If you haven't seen the Sound of Music put on by the Leavenworth Summer Theater, I highly recommend it. The actors always do a superb job but the best part is the beauty of the Cascade Mountains surrounding the venue. The hills are definitely alive when Maria comes out singing!!

Acting, singing, sets and live music are great every year. Enjoy having both indoor and outdoor venues.

Went to see the Sound of Music in the outdoor theater. It's a wonderful venue that looks over the valley. It is nice being in the outdoors even with a few bugs buzzing around and bats flying overhead. There is a little bit of a hike from the parking lot to the amphitheater. The play itself was great. They had great actors with wonderful voices. The staff were friendly in helping us find our seats. I appreciated the fact that the music was from a live band rather than pre-recorded. Overall a great experience.
