Boating, fishing, bird watching galore. The Visitors Center allows RVs to stay overnight at no charge (limit one night). The lake at sunset is gorgeous for photography. No other fee except what you pay for Tonto National Forest. Don't skip that one, because several Federal Agencies are enforcing it.

My family has gone to Spring Canyon Campground every summer for over 30 years. The beach is beautiful , the water is amazing, the weather is always good. Wish they had hot showers though...

There is so much to do when visiting the Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area! Water sports and fishing on a 130 mile long lake, the third largest hydro electric dam in the world, and incredible scenery if you take the time to drive around the lake. Bring your passport so you can slip across the border and explore BC on your trip. Be sure to drive to Kettle Falls. On my way across the mountains to Kettle Falls from Coulee Dam this week I saw forty or so white tail deer and two moose calves just hanging out along the road. Be prepared for desert in the Coulee Dam area yet in an hour you are in the mountains. Be aware that five different entities administer the lake so in some areas you are under tribal jurisdiciton. Don't hunt or fish until you have checked the rules. There are fees for some activities but there is no park admission.

Lots of wildlife can be seen when on the lake and over 150 miles of boating. Water is a nice temperature and much cleaner water than most lakes. We love the water and sand dunes. Only caution is to watch the weather if a storm comes in the water can get real rough and windy quickly and early in the summer watch out for logs. You'll love boating at Grand Coulee

Our first trip to Fort Spokane Campground was at the end of the summer season. The campground was quiet, but the boat launch was still buzzing. We were impressed with the space each site is allocated, but not with the lack of privacy per site. The sites mostly have adequate shade throughout the day from the pine trees, we just wish there were some shrubbery to divide up the sites. Each site has large pull-though parking pads, which makes getting trailers, motor homes and boats easy in and out. Had we gotten to the campgrounds earlier, we would have chosen a tent site only because they are secluded from the rest of the campground and have a private vault toilet, which would have provided us tenters more peace from the motor home and trailer generators. About every other site has a water spigot providing fresh drinkable water. Unfortunately, we came too late in the season to explore Fort Spokane, but we did access the Spokane River from the campground and spent some time in the water with our dogs cooling off and ride our bikes all over the campground and boat launch. The campground itself has 67 sites, dump station, playgrounds, hiking trails, beach access, boat launch/docks, flush and vault toilets and fish cleaning stations.We would go back only during the slower seasons just because mid-season would be really busy with no privacy when we like to camp for the nature, not for boating and this is more of a campground for boaters who will spend more time in the water then at the camp site.

We came to visit this park as part of our visit to see the Grand Coulee Dam over Labor Day weekend. The park and beach are both clean, green, shaded and sunny depending on what you are seeking. There are more than enough picnic tables for lots of visitors, barbeque grills and lots of garbage pails, clean and emptied regularly. All visitors are very respectful, keeping the area very clean - no garbage on the ground anywhere we looked. All were friendly - we chatted with a number of families visiting the park that day - at other picnic tables and down by the water. We couldn't have received a better recommendation - from both a dinner waitress and the desk clerk at our motel. Best yet - since it's a National Park, there was no admission fee. Nice paths, ample parking, rest rooms. Who could ask for anything more?

We camp here all the time we visit the Dam. It has no Power or water at the sites. We are ok with that. Great place to take the boat. Never too crowded, awesome weather, can see the back side of the dam. Great dock for the boats with fresh water for engine flushing...

I was overwhelmed with the enormous scale of both the dam and of Lake Roosevelt. The entire area exudes POWER, not just from that being generated by the dam but by the natural environment surrounding the 900 foot deep Lake! When Americans do things they seem to do it in a BIG way and this site was no exception. We stayed at a state campground on the hillside to the south and east of the dam which was excellent - beautiful sandy beach, clear blue water, a place to safely swim away from the motor boats towing water skiers and tubers for adults and children. Unfortunately, there were no inside showers but for a one night stay that wasn't a problem for us. Some of the pre-teens and teens were rather rambunctious in the evening but to their credit they were quiet once 10:00 p.m. rolled around. I have a terrible fear of heights so the visit to the actual dam site was very challenging for me. In the morning we headed south & east towards Spokane and once out of the coulee we found ourselves in Washington's wheatland - vast, endless, straight-arrow road, and breathtaking expanse of sky (these words don't do justice to the immensity of the space and its other-worldly beauty! It is a shame that America is growing so much genetically modified wheat - is this contributing to the obesity of its population?

great place for families to visit.a real learning experience for children.would really recommend it.

Whether just driving by and taking in the grandeur of the lake, or staying for awhile to camp and venture out onto it, this beautiful lake in the Northwest offers a great site to basque in its beauty and sunshine for some fun.

We found a spot above the dam and went for a swim. It was freezing cold but enjoyable for a few minutes. We then found the state park and its beautiful grassy hills and sandy beache. The water was still cold but we didn't mind. Lots of families there. Just enjoyed sitting and watching the kids and boats going by.

There are several camp grounds along the like, they now have floating toilets for boaters. The down fall is you need to bring enough gas to get up the lake and back as there are only thee fuel stops in a 100 plus miles. Daisy camp ground is a great stay, as is Hunters. You can put in at Hunters go down the lake and camp on the reservation side it is beautiful. Be very very careful going up past China Bend to Northport. The channel is narrow (stay to the right) if you go through the narrows it is very swift and rocky.Excellent Lake for walleye and trout.
