It was fun going under the rock but the best part was a trail that is next to the hospital rock that goes down to the river. We had fun dipping our toes in the river there. Watch out for the bug bites.

While the visit to the rock was nice, the hike down to the river was very pleasant and being able to slip your toes in the refreshing river was a great reward.

Not too long after entering Sequoia National Park from Three Rivers. You'll come around a curve and see Hospital Rock. It's actually kinda hard to see from the road because of the trees and brush, but it's there. There is a parking/picnic area nearby across the road, steps lead up to the sight. Hospital Rock is a huge boulder that was used by native americans as shelter and a meeting place. There are still 'cave drawings' (even though this isn't a cave) on the side of the rock and there are mortar holes where the native americans would grind nuts. You can hang around there or explore a little bit. I think a waterfall is nearby, we could hear it, but we didn't go seek it out. If you are going to the top of the mountian for Moro Rock or the Sequoia groves, stop here on the way for some history.
