We hiked from Lower Sardine Lake to Upper Sardine Lake on a Monday afternoon in August. It was a hot day, so we were glad we had plenty of water in addition to our lunch. We enjoyed both lakes, but we spent most of our time at Upper Sardine Lake, which had fewer visitors, allowing us to enjoy the peace and quiet there, in addition to the views. The dirt road between the two lakes has big ruts and large rocks and is fairly steep, so it's best to be prepared for the hike. (I was glad to have plenty of water, hiking shoes, and my trekking poles.)
