My husband and I took this tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. Helen, our tour guide, was a stitch. Unlike the previous review we did not ride around in a jeep. We focused on the production and packaging facility though we did walk through some lemon and avocado groves learning about the produce. We were the only two people on the tour, so perhaps that made a difference. It was great because we could pound Helen with questions - all of which she answered knowledgably. Watching the machinery that sorts, grades, packages, moves, and transports lemons was fascinating. I could have spent half a day there, and I think kids would love it. Helen explained the marketing and the business end of growing lemons as well as the history of the company. A delightful morning. If you're a senior ask for a discount.

My husband, 13 year old son and I took the Limoneira Ranch & Sustainability Tour in August. This was a really educational and fun tour, thanks to our friendly and extremely knowledgable tour guide, Helen. Along with another couple, we rode around in a jeep for about an hour (though they have vans for larger groups). We learned about the history of this large farm (that's existed for over 100 years), how crops are grown and harvested, and the sustainability efforts that are used to improve efficiency and protect the environment. We saw acres of beautiful crops: lemons, avocados, cabbages, cilantro, and many more. We were provided with lots of detail, including anecdotes about the original owners of the farm, the history of farming in this area and specific information about the various crops. As a take-home gift we were each given avocados and lemons to take home. I would highly recommend this tour for all ages! (Look for their online coupon for 20% off the tour price.)
