ice center at san mateo

This was a nice ice skating rink, not always busy, but I think business was okay. Brian Boitano practiced there sometimes and it had a good family atmosphere. However, the city of San Mateo decided the property could be put to better use and shut it down. The building now sits empty as it has for over a year. A very stupid, sad decision on the city's part.

Eh, ice was great, but get off the ice and you have something that reminds one of the back end of a middle school gym. This is a great place for kids and their hockey teams, for workouts, and for kid parties, but this place seriously needs a redo. Everything off the ice is just worn out looking. The party rooms are ok, mainly because they get decorated for each party, but the bathrooms, locker area, and table area needs help. It would seriously help to have all the vending machines work, and have good stuff stocked in them. The bleacher area on the other side of the rink is better, probably because it is near the windows and this adds to the ambiance, but on the other side: a dark, dank, basement feel.
