This forms an important link between Imperial Beach and Coronado, so I am glad it exists, but at times it's right by a busy highway and not all that scenic. The south end (where there are lots of shorebirds and ducks) is the most interesting part, and the stretch through Coronado is very nice.

Great views of the bay, paved trail with rest stops. Perfect biking trail but, be cautious as there are a few jerks who think they are speed racers and come dangerously close at high sppeds

The Bikeway is a combination of dedicated bike paths and marked bike lanes/routes. The most popular section runs from Coronado to Imperial Beach - maybe 10 miles or so. This section is perfectly flat and very safe - completely isolated from cars. Keep in mind that the prevailing wind is over 10 mph from the north. So if you rent a bike in Coronado it will be smooth sailing going south, but you will have a big headwind coming back. Judge your time accordingly.

25 mile super safe bikepath hooks up with a Ferry for a perfect ride. Rent a high end bike at Hollands or just rent a beach cruiser.

While staying at the nearby, lovely Bernardo Shores RV Park, we discovered this gem. We've only biked the dedicated paved bike path areas near IB & Coronado. It is great. What isn't are some of the users. Many of these skilled bikers, whom I truly go out of my way to 'share the road' with when driving my car, fail to extend the same courtesy to slower bikers, joggers, and pedestrians. Passing on blind curves, riding in small groups with at least one rider on the wrong side of the path, and in one case, forcing an older gentleman out for a walk completely off the path as they overtook my wife & myself. This was commonplace on both the Fourth of July and the following Saturday. We will continue to use this wonderful community asset but only at non-peak times during our stay.
