This tour was a blast! Boomer the longhorn was "in-your-face" and Suzie the mama elk was so sweet! If you're in this area you have to take this tour. It was great getting to see the animals in their own environment and feeding them was fun, too. I bought some of the velvet antler to see if it works. Less than 30 days and counting.

Took the tour in one of their unique covered wagons with my family group on 30+. We all had a fantastic time. Boomer with all his spunk and attitude has to be the highlight. The team from the ranch were very willing to accommodate our group on a day they normally don't provide regular tours. If you plan to be at NSP, this would be a great family friendly activity to add to your list.

During our family reunion, my sister-in-law booked a tour for us at the Elk Ranch. Since we had 20 of us, we were able to get our own private wagon tour through the ranch. On the long drive out to the ranch, we were treated to beautiful views of rolling prairie, big sky and the Niobrara River. Not to mention low clouds that were just lingering over the tall grass. Made for a very movie-like setting. At the Ranch, we paid a reasonable price for a two-hour ride / tour. The woman and owner who led our tour shared useful and interesting info and threw in a handful of anecdotes that kept us laughing a bit here and there. The wagon seats were old school bus seats but totally fine for the purpose and the sides of the wagon had bars to keep us safe from the animals. And the covered wagon helped keep us cool and protected from sunburn. We had great views of the elk and the bison. We saw the largest bull while he was resting in a wooded area and then were treated to a lengthy encounter with the buffalo / bison in an open pasture. The animals came right up to the wagon, and we fed them corn cobs. My 4-year old was apprehensive but eventually helped me hold out a cob to one of them. No petting to ensure no animals get upset and charge the wagon! They also have a Texas Longhorn Steer for comic relief who hangs out with the bison and comes to the wagon. No feeding him! He seems like he is ready to jab the wagon with his horns! After a satisfying time there, we went to another area of the ranch and observed a group of bulls lounging in the sun. Beautiful setting and great animals. Though I'm originally from ND, I've never been to a ranch like this, and our son who is a city kid was just thrilled. The only precaution we took was to take our allergy meds that morning ;0One last note: they sell Velvet Antler Elk Marrow. I had never heard of this but the owner describes what they do to harvest the antlers and make the supplement. Pretty interesting. She sells it there along with an interesting collection of items at her gift store. Check out the Buffalo Chips for burning in bonfires and averting mosquitos.

This was our 2nd time being at their ranch and taking the tour in the covered wagon. They family is so sweet and you can tell they love what they do. Our boys had a great time feeding the buffalo and petting Boomer (the longhorn); and what trip wouldn't be complete without a T-shirt.I am sure we will visit again! Thanks Kreycik Family

FANTASTIC TOUR of the ranch in a covered trailer where you can even feed the buffalo (or if you prefer, Bison). Herd in a pasture with a fantastic view of the Niobrara River and they come to the trailer to be fed ears of corn. The elk do not come up to the wagon but will eat the corn if tossed out. As it is a working ranch they also have buffalo and elk meats for sale. Well worth the price.
