The displays at this museum truly reflect the culture of this area of the United States of America. The easy access to this museum ie. just off Interstate 40 at Weatherford, Oklahoma makes this a very easy and educational way to spend the day. D.J. Julian

To me, one interesting aspect of the Heartland Museum is the method by which it showcases its collections. It has separate themes in each of dozens of rooms, and you could spend hours examining its hundreds of thousands of donated items. Plan to spend an afternoon touring its exhibits.

not a very bad place to visit, you like history you need to come by here and give it a chance and just look around.

This is a small museum that has many booths that depicts the history of southwestern Oklahoma and Weatherford. Well worth the stop and it is right off of I-40. Has outdoor exhibits too.

Not a great deal to see here. The people are nice but they surely stay with you. Would not go again.

This museum is a must stop. Everything from stores, doctor office, war attire to cars, farm equipment and yes and walk in diner in which Elvis sat! There is also a 1 room school house that you can walk in and sit just like they did back them. It was only 6.00 per person too! A must stop!

A well organized and complete collection of this area of the heartland. This museum is the result of hundreds of local families donating both articles and their time to keep history alive. The museum is very popular with local schools for tours and also offers a "wind turbine tour" to inform about the areas many wind farms. There is an outside functioning blacksmith shop, a one room school house, and a completely rebuilt diner from Weatherford. The volunteers are friendly and well informed. I even found an original Civil War discharge on display. The museum is easy to find and worth the time.

This has a surprising and interestingly thorough collection of artifacts showing life in early Oklahoma days. To me it was a visual feast of much of the items important to daily life in small towns and on farms in the old days. They also have an old one room school house and a tiny diner from decades ago that has been maintained as it was then--it was Elvis's favorite Weatherford place to stop for a bite when headed east or west on highway 66. You can see a lot in a restful one-hour stop when traveling I-40, or can spend hours looking carefully at all the detail if time permits. Local volunteers cheerfully provide insights and information..

Never go there again, staff was nice but boring to listen to. Would be better if you were let wander about yourself. But Ray insisted on escorting us around and although he was sweet he was boring to listen to.

I was born in Weatherford but moved away as a child, never really liked the place. But I couldn't believe that this museum was here now, and how nice and thourough it is! Very helpful and kind older voluinteer staff, who went around turning on lights and games and sounds for us as we went along ourselves. Don't miss the undertaker's shop. There are shell casing lamps in the WWII / Korea / Vietnam area, and tons of history of the city and region packed in to dozens and dozens of lifesize dioramas! Gift shop is a bit lacking, but hey. Display exist ouside too, inclding a soda shop / cafe where Elvis once ate on nearby Route 66. WOW.

Amazing collection of Americana! The staff was amazing and very dedicated to bringing this collection of antiques and collectables up to museum status. I especially enjoyed a small section of 'guess what this old object was used for'....
