Our tour guide (I believe it was Keith) was not only knowledgable but was very interesting and made the tour fun and information. The theater was a great stop and all enjoyed it.

The Ponca City Chamber of Commerce recommended that we stop by the Poncan Theater to see some of the lobby card art. We did just that, but the theater manager Larry ended up taking us on a full tour of the theater. We loved the history and the architecture, and the personal attention during our visit. There was no charge for the impromptu tour, so we put some money in the donation box out front, and I'd encourage other visitors to do the same.

I have fond memories of The Poncan Theater. I have performed on stage, and have grown up watching movies, plays and concerts. My friend worked there in high school, and I would frequently visit. The auditorium is beautiful. I always marvel at every ornate detail. I was one of the first people to have my senior portraits done here, it is a great backdrop for a thespian. Even the hallways and bathrooms and backstage is kept antiquated to it's glory days. It is so old there is a separate entrance from before the civil rights era. They do not make beauties like this anymore, I appreciate it's historical splendor.

This is one of the first theaters in Oklahoma. Very ornate and spectacular surroundings are still in great condition. This venue is used mainly for concerts and community performances.

If you enjoy seeing a real 1920's vaudeville/ movie palace, then this is one you should put on your list. The restoration of this fine theater, almost did not take place, and those involved should feel quite proud of their fine efforts. A shame, that many cities make parking lots out of some of these theaters instead of making them a centerpiece attraction for their downtowns.Located off Hwy 177 and close to the Marland Mansion. Convienent to other downtown Ponca attractions within safe walking distance.

If you like old buildings made new, then this is a "gotta see". Everything looks old but is new. I love live theatre in this building. It has a balcony too!
